2025-09-29 17:23:50 +0000 UTCSo we finally have a new competent villain team lol, it's nice to have a group that's a genuine threat and not comic relief. In the games Team Rocket was only really the villains in the first game generations, the Kanto and Johto region. They completely disbanded during the events of the Johto games, but as you can see obviously the anime kept Team Rocket around. Also honestly it's kind of nice to see Ash take on a little bit of a mentor role with May, she's basically starting out at the same level he did when the series started. By the way, those treasures orbs we saw are actually a little homage, they're the same colours as the four original Pokemon games in Japanese (red, green, blue and yellow), and they're also a nod to the placement of the Poké Balls on the pedestal in Professor Oak's Laboratory when Ash got his Pikachu, it's a surprisingly subtle reference to the series history.
