I really like the way Ryoga's pig presence was introduced! And the earlier moments between Akane and Ranma were excellent!

And for me, there’s just definitely an extra layer of charm to this version.

The issue with the original anime really was filler, like, I've said it before, but the anime staff instead of doing a proper 1 to 1 adaptation of the manga like this remake does, decided to stretch out scenes, change or rewrite the jokes and also add things usually more squabbling and Akane and Ranma fighting, it's something I'd say most adaptations of Rumiko's works face to varying degrees, even Inuyasha to a much lesser degree, anime staff that think they know better then the creator, Rumiko is one of the richest woman in Japan for a reason (she's allegedly the richest, though someone might have taken that title a while ago), she's just that good of a writer. I think one of the big things the remake benefits from is the voice cast, since most of the cast voiced them in the original anime they know the characters, they've had at this point a few decades to grow a firm understanding of just who they are and what motivates them, plus all of that extra experience voice acting in general, there's no awkward period were the VAs are trying to get a feel for who the character is, they already know who they are, and we know from interviews and such both Ranma's and Akane's VAs truly love the characters, that's why they wanted to come back and do the series justice. I'll stop there before this gets to long lol, but the last thing I'll say is this, that second half of the episode with P-Chan, in the original that was adapted over a full episode and a half, just to give you an idea of just how stretched out the original is in comparison, and how much filler they added.
