2025-02-13 19:24:54 +0000 UTCI know a lot of people in the fandom will credit Tywin for being shrewd. Granted, he was a very smart and calculated person. His biggest flaw ultimately was his emotions surrounding the death of his wife. Tyrion is someone who is politically and socially astute. He was able to keep Joffrey from fucking up more than he already was, he was able to restore the morale of his troops, and he knows how to sway people. Excluding Tywin’s demise, doing this to Tyrion made it so that the Lannisters lost all their bright leaders. The only one left is Cersei, who while smart is also narcissistic to the point of self-sabotage.

He straight up murders her in the books, no question about it. But this can be interpreted more like self-defense, since I have no doubt TV Shae would have killed him if given the chance.
