GOOD DOG! - Futurama 5x2

Comments

My dog died on Wednesday. Why did I watch this?

It always breaks my heart. Fry thinking Seymour lived a full life without him, and that cloning him would just be selfish... when in reality, Seymour getting cloned and waking up to see Fry would have been the happiest moment in that old dog's entire life.

I'm still catching up on reactions. Not looking forward to getting to this one. It doesn't matter how many times I see it, it still breaks me. Damnit, I think I have to say screw watching "in order" and just get this one out of the way now. I can already feel it...

i've seen this episode like 50 times and it still makes me emotional every time. fry's absent-mindedness and where he gets it from really coming full circle at the end. neglect is what caused fry to overlook important things himself, but what makes it sad is fry really cares about the friends he has, but can't help but to mimic the same carelessness and neglect he got from his parents. so the result is he assumed seymore moved on fine without him just like his parents did, when in reality he just neglected seymore by not bringing him back so they could see eachother one last time. i used to think this ending was bittersweet, because fry and seymore never forgot about eachother (hence the song playing). but now i realize this whole episode is just straight up tragic. at least they gave us some Amy and Leela wrestling in bikinis to lighten the mood a little.

man even if he only lived another day, i wish fry had remained stupid here and not thought of what would usually be a logical conclusion and still revived the dog for at LEAST a day lmao.....then he would have fulfilled his promise yknow? this is definitely the episode that always comes to mind first whenever i think of futurama, makes me sad as hell knowing the reunion seymore had been waiting his whole life for, was so close to happening....but didnt come to be because Fry decided to try to think for once in his life😭😭😭

Excellent point! 😁

I mean, you can't blame Fry's dad for being as dumb as he is. His son is also his dad, after all.

That's amazing!

I love this episode as it's based on a true story. In the early 1900s there was a dog named Hachikō that would wait at the Shibuya train station every day for his owner. One day the owner died from a cerebral hemmorage while at the university he taught at. Hachikō went to the station every single day for 9 years waiting for his owner to come back. There is even a statue of Hachikō in the city of Shibuya.
