2025-01-25 23:35:36 +0000 UTCI knew you'd like the series, the first movie is unfortunately a terrible way to get into the franchise, it's Roddenberry it's the franchise at some of its worse. This is genuinely still one of my favourite tv series, it's one that just keeps getting better with each season. Sisko, Quark, Odo, Bashir, Gul Dukat, (and some I can't mention yet) they're all just fantastic characters and have amazing actors, it helps that the make-up for the aliens is really good for a tv series as well, the prosthetics don't look cheap. Avery Brooks does an amazing job as Ben Sisko, watching him have to explain concepts like linearity to non-corporeal beings while grappling with his past is honestly sci-fi at its best, high concepts mixed with a human feeling story. Gene Roddenberry wanted Stark Trek to be a shining example of humanity at its best, an example of what we could be, sometimes that got a little... heavy handed and self righteous in TNG (and well... the original film as you kind of know), but DS9 handles it really well while adding in a darker side to it, the characters feel more real, even though half of them are aliens. Unless something changes I think we'll probably continue our double header of Ranma and Star Trek DS9 next month as well, but just 1 of each this time, I was able to get Pokemon on the patreon so... DS9 might be my next project to get on the poll, from the looks of the comment section already... I think we have a chance (poor Inuyasha).
