2025-01-14 20:32:08 +0000 UTCWhat I love so much about this episode is the realism of it compared to many of the other episodes, and Fred's character. Unlike monsters or aliens, someone like Fred could actually exist in real life, which I think makes it all the more unsettling. There's even a name for his obsession for cutting hair; trichotemnomania. I also think Fred is a very well done creepy character, especially thanks to the voice actor. He did everything perfectly to really make Fred stand out. But also because on some level, past his creepiness, he's a bit of a sympathetic character. He's an ordinary person who is suffering from mental illness and an obsession for cutting hair, which has caused him to destroy his life; and he's too far gone to even seem to realize it. Even the way he playfully says "naughty" seems to hint at that while he does on some level knows what he's doing is wrong, he can't seem to fully comprehend why it's bad.

2025-01-14 16:55:13 +0000 UTCThe VA, Paul, for Freaky Fred has such an eerily smooth voice. I cannot help but find it soothing and yet disturbing. He also voices a fair few other characters in Courage and was in a pair of episodes of Law and Order I also believe Fred is based on Sweeney Todd, but I could be wrong.
