Good point.

Misty is a bit selfish, but I still like her character lol, she's at least honest about it, also I like Togepi's design it's a very simple one but it's pretty memorable, one of my favourite characters in the franchise also has one. Others have already mentioned it, but yes, Togepi is actually from an entirely other region then Kanto, how it ended up with those prehistoric Pokemon in Kanto I have no idea. I've followed Pokemon for a long time now... so I'm pretty familiar with the different generations, but it does make me wonder, if you've never seen the series or games before, can you tell that a Pokemon was designed for a different generation of games?

It's funny that you mention that because revealing at least one Pokemon in the anime the generation before they're in the games is a tradition they keep for a very long time. The Black and White anime were the last ones to do it if you just count the anime itself.

Honestly, you can argue this being the second time Brock has been screwed over a mon he narratively prolly should have gotten. The first being Charmander when the entire episode, Brock was the one constantly worrying about Charmander and was the one to initially confront Charmander's old douchebag trainer. Yet in the end, Ash caught him.

I totally forgot about that lol. You're right.

Ho-Oh in episode 1 was the 1st

Did the movie come out by this point? Other than that I'm not sure which other mon was introduced first.

Dave Turcotte

Technically the 2nd haha

This is a really interesting episode as far as the games and viewership is concerned. In the original set of games Red/Blue/Yellow, Togepi didn't exist, which is the game this season of the show is based upon. This was really our first introduction to any Pokemon that would come out in the next set of games, Gold/Silver/Crystal. They would slowly introduce newer Pokemon little by little as the seasons go on before we even got those games.
