Brock chasing girls is basically one of his biggest character traits lol, that's why I feel like he'll be one of your favourite characters in the entire series. From what we know from the games, the Pokemon world 2,000 years ago when that ghost girl lived was alive was a pretty chaotic place, there was giant expansionist empires developing at the time, a grudge match between two ridiculously powerful Pokémon reshaping the land and sea, the world was being battered by meteor showers, it's no wonder she never saw her beloved again. Oh, also ghosts just kind of exist in the Pokemon world, it's just something that's been a fact since the first game, still not the weirdest thing you'll come across in this franchise.
