It's still impressive to turn a creep like Yasuda into a Buddhist Monk for a day. Also I think the super plain girlfriend. Is a reference to an Anime called Azumanga Daioh. Where there was a teacher even creepier than Yasuda. That also had an obsession with High School Girls. Who it later turned out had a very beautiful and normal wife.
