As I get lost in the grind while working on the comic, I keep meaning to post some of the progress for my patreons. This page above is one part of the assembly line process that I use. This stage is what I call "line art and color prep". This is the clean up phase after sketching where I get all the clean lines and color mask in all the characters, backgrounds, boxes, panels, etc....using a lot of layers, folders, and organizing.
It may look a bit drab with all the gray coloring and simple backgrounds, but once the next phases of "base color" and "rendering stages" happen, this page should spring to life. Sometimes I will draw more detailed backgrounds if needed. Other times I will paint them in and use lens blurs for a more cinematic feel, especially if the focus and camera angles are really on the characters with heavy use of text bubbling.
This is the largest set of pages I've worked on since starting the comic 3 years ago. It's is an 18 page set, as I like to draw and see an entire scene before I green light the rest of the production phases. It's quite grueling, and I generally don't take a break until the set is done. It's taken me the entire summer and will probably get finished in mid-September.
After this, it's the just the epilogue that will be left! My goal is to finish the book before the year's end. Then it'll be tons of post production cleanup and fixes before....yes... I send this to print. :D
Printing and publishing will be another discussion, but for anyone wondering, yes, that is 100% my next goal, then on to Volume 2! (here we go again)
Thanks again for all your support!
