I've been recently juggling multiple projects over the last few months as I just finished up a children's book (more on that as details develop). Since finishing my last major set of pages, I'm now beginning into the biggest part of the volume. I've really wanted to make some production changes in how I approach the process, including usage of 3d models to really help cement the look.
I'm using some free stock 3d models I've found as place holders to give me guidelines once I actually get my own designs in place. As I may have mentioned before, cinematography is a major part of storytelling, and while this is a comic, I like to think of it as a storyboard to a film. I'm trying to experiment more, hopefully having more successes than failures. :P
So here's the first page of the big scene. This is what I call a SUPER rough pass, simply just organizing my panels, visual storytelling, dramatic setup, etc. Sometimes I'll do some extremely rough lighting to get a feel for the scene, which helps me visualize the next one. This page will most likely be altered in the final, but it's a solid start.
