Interestingly this reminds me of Hannibal Lecter from silence of the lambs where by time he wasn't in it much but the character was so important and captivating that it felt like the entire movie was his.

I can't wait to see his importance to the future of One Piece unravel. At this point I'm more pumped to see Luffy and Shanks reunite than to see Luffy find the One Piece haha

Head Canon thought is that Shanks did it so Luffy would have more motivation, since during Shank's meeting with Whitebeard, he said he bet it on a new generation or something to that effect.

And how if Luffy vs Shanks fight it will be a battle of the giftee and the gifter. Just remember once Big Mom and Kaido are out of the picture then all thatβs left is the other two emperors, Blackbeard and Shanks. And those two hate each other, so letβs see how things play out after Wano.
