That was an extremely bizarre, sometimes convoluted adventure! But it does seem that Evil Morty reigns!

EVIL MORTY WINS?! - Rick & Morty 5x10

Comments

That stuff Mr Poopybuthole said at the end about being afraid to tell people who you really are, so you dig yourself deeper into lies, really hits different now that the stuff about the creator came out. Not that it excuses his behavior, but it sounds like he was really struggling with it.

It's such an interesting story. Our Rick wasn't initially interested in going on adventures. He just wanted to spend time with his family. And he became the drunken asshole we know now due to another version of himself killing his wife and daughter. The other Rick truly doesn't care about anything at all, and our Rick tries to personify him while also seeking to find and kill him. He's the Rickest Rick because he hates himself the most, and it's not hard to see why Rick hates himself lol

That's cool!

Fun fact: Rick's design in the beginning is based on the classic anime film Vampire Hunter D, complete with cyborg steed

David Crosby

Evil Morty is a villain who has taken no L's so far; he got what he needed with the robo Rick, which was direct access to The Citadel, he carried out a political take over of The Citadel, and now he managed to make it to the place he wanted most; a universe where Rick is not the smartest man. But yeah I think at this point its established that Evil Morty and The Rick that killed Diane and baby Beth are the two main big bads of this series. I mean Evil-er Rick was the catalyst for the events leading up to this and Evil Morty was just a tiny Thanos.

DevilJynx

He is a psychopath; he does not care about the consequences of his actions or the people he hurts and kills along the way so long as he gets what he desires.

DevilJynx

I get what you're saying lad. The only reason, imo, he's evil is for sacrificing all those Mortys

Aidan

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that Evil Morty isn't evil. He is, indeed, a great character within this story, but while he has his own singular focus, he is certainly willing to employ evil deeds to accomplish it.

Yup!!

Well said, you make very solid points.

I love the reveal that our Rick, the Rick that hates the Citadel more than anyone else, made the Citadel. That is just more evidence of his self-hatred.

Miklar Sihn

Yup, that is how it ends. With Evil Morty entering a universe where Rick isn't the smartest being alive. Either because the Rick in that universe doesnt exist or because someone is smarter than him in it. What i find really interesting is that the idea of someone being smarter than Rick was threathening enough to him that he created his own pocket multiverse. That is how scared Rick was of ever meeting someone smarter than himself. Which might mean that some Rick at some point met someone scary enough to warrant that change.

Miklar Sihn

"That's why I'm evil, because I'm sick of HIM. And if you've ever felt the same, then you're evil too." Hits so dam hard lad Calling out Rick as one of those people who blames the entire world for his faults, mistakes, and circumstances, and rather seeing that he's pushing away he blames them for further abandoning him Evil Morty is not evil, he's just someone Rick considers evil. But how evil can that really be lad. Some villains lad want to rule the world, some want to destroy it, some are genocidal maniacs... Evil Morty just wants to be free and is painfully aware of an existence where he's not. Honestly when you realize evil Morty, he just doesn't want to be an eternal slave to Rick The thing i love most about evil Morty lad, is that he didn't follow any cliches, didn't even want Rick and Morty dead. He went straight for his goal and let nothing stop him. He had counters and protections from ever conceivable possibility. And in the end he got what he wished for. The only reason he's considered evil is because he willingly sacrificed the lives of all those innocent Mortys. Sorry for the long rant lad, i just love evil Morty and was patiently waiting for your reaction to this episode

Aidan

blue portal = same universe green portal = universe under Rick’s control gold portal = infinite ♾ Evil Morty freed himself from Rick’s reach.
