I remember getting my mom to watch TWD and we went through it, she screamed and flipped out at Carl getting shot. Had to reassure her Carl was going to be fine/wasn't going to die. The show was so different in these early seasons compared to where it is now. Not sure if it's better or worse, argument could be made for both, it's just a different look and tone.
