And it was planned from the get go.

Oh and now that he's revealed himself, the dice elf guy that was found passed out in the middle of that passage way was actually Zagred. He left that elf's body and hopped over into Ronne's. That was why he was not lreally interested in fighting any of the magic knights, he knew his plan was all coming together. While he himself specifically has not been hinted at too much, his reveal was not random as the entire story had been written with him in mind right from the get to.

Zagred Mcmahon: It was me Patry! It was me the whole time!

DevilJynx

Yeah Raia was the one who lied about it, not Patry.

DevilJynx

I thought it was the liar guy who said he lied about the betrayal instead of Patry. (This is just me wanting to be clear on who said what) On the elves side of things, that is all a result of the demon's manipulation. Even the resurrection spell the demon used helped keep them on the path of revenge since it had a side effect of malice. They had just been genocided by the humans who the demon manipulated into killing them. The combination of just being killed and having the spell enhance their malice means it wasn't so much the elves being nudged and more so the demon giving them one rough push and then keeping them on course. Of course, individuals like Liar guy and Patry do play a part in going in that direction due to their leadership roles, but the demon even says he put Patry in that specific position because of his feelings for Licht. In the end the Demon put so much more effort into pushing the elves to this path than he did the humans. I honestly can't blame them with this level of interference guiding them to a specific destination.

Except Licht. He even at the end didn’t want revenge against humans.

Ultra Power

Even if the demon was pulling the strings, he wasn't lying about both humans and elves being easily swayed. Humans wanted power and just needed some nudging to be convinced to kill the elves, and the elves wanted revenge (Patry even said he lied about the betrayal to keep the other elves hating humans). While the demon was the mastermind, it doesn't absolve everyone else of their parts in his plan.

That's fair! 😂

This show does such an amazing job of hitting you with well-designed swerves!

Seeing how much I absolutely despise Patry, I possibly took too much joy in watching the demon torture him 😅

At long last we see the true mastermind of this massive saga. (We can't even say arc since all of its connected into a larger story) With this new antagonist we get a lot of good stuff we can talk about. We finally see a "demon" that was mentioned in the five leaf Clover speech (probably not supposed to be an exact demon but maybe a reference to a type of grimoire demons use since the demon here made his like that, that part is more of a guess than anything) We get how a five-leaf clover comes into existence outside of one choosing you like with Asta, we even get very clear reference to the demon inside Asta's book, the one this demon called comrade who mentions how this comrade will need to take Asta's body if he wants to survive which is something that black figure tried to do when Asta first unlocked his black form all the way back at the witches forest arc. Above all we have an entity, a villain who is the strings that connect everything that has happened to the elves so far. Like he's the one that likely told the Nobles of this wedding, manipulated the situation that killed all the elves and is even the one who cast that forbidden resurrection spell. Suddenly the fact this forbidden magic has a "malice" side effect makes so much more sense due to the fact it was a demon who cast it. All of this is very enlightening and after this episode we're only going to be given even more context of what happened on that day and even more about demons. It's going to be fun to talk about later down the line.

Ngl this was a pretty good twist, that's one thing about BC I have always enjoyed. When they want to make a crazy twist they know how to set it up without giving it away. Lots of the newer Shonen tend to lack that surprising factor.
