THE RETURN! - Boondocks, S1E9

Comments

This episode meant a lot to me as a kid. Seeing MLK point out how much Black people have degraded when it comes down to civility and intellect was something! I noticed that same thing as a Black kid and it was freeing to know that I wasn't the only one who could see it! I think if MLK was alive today he would have been panned as a racists!

IT's not just the African American population though. It's Americans in general. Technically, MLK's dream is alive and well. Black and White people ARE united... just united in ignorance.

The problem is King's right, when King lead the desegregation movement in the 60s. I can only imagine how much potential there was for African Americans to prosper. Instead I'd say they stagnated and went downhill from there. Heroin in the 70s, the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s. Rapper culture (which is more or less the face of Black Celebrity these days, either you're a comedian or a you're a rapper). Then you have the current activism of today. The problem with it is, that they don't want to take any responsibility for their own actions. Every misfortune or disadvantage in their lives has to be the fault of racism and "the white man" when they have all the opportunity in the world to succeed. They just don't want to go out and get it, they just want it handed to them. I know this is a controversial subject, as most political/societal satire is. But I thought I'd throw my two cents out. If you disagree or dislike anything I said, you're perfectly welcome to ignore it.
