Crazy how, while these fights are good, they don't even *compare* to the later fights in this season. No other anime studio holds a candle to the animation/art in those later fights. Looking forward!

I love how not only is it the Regeneration that puts Rengoku at a disadvantage it it’s also the stamina. At first Rengoku was easily able to keep up even with Akaza’s regen but later on when Rengoku starts breathing heavy it all goes downhill. Akaza even says “The more you attack the closer you get to death”. You never really see Stamina play a big part in anime and I love it.

Actually, no, I hadn't seen that. I had only heard of the 7 episodes from the movie, and I had to hunt for the others... I'll have to pick these back up after the episode of AOT I already recorded.

Yup, that's exactly what they were illustrating. That's why it's impressive that Rengoku is never swayed towards being a demon, as he's willing to accept whatever fate his being a human with inferior abilities brings.

Ah, good ol' Akaza. The moment he showed up and I saw he was Upper Moon 3 my blood froze and my heart sank in anticipation of what was about to happen. After finishing the story he is easily my favorite of the Upper Moons, though you won't find out why for at least another two seasons probably. I'm proud of Rengoku for standing strong in the face of impossible odds and protecting everybody. A true warrior and example for all demon slayers to follow.

Honestly the gap between the bottom three and top three Upper Moons feels as wide as the gap between the Lower and Upper Moons. I can't wait till Curtis and others get to see Akaza's story and what he is really capable of. And Upper Moon One is truly a monster among monsters.

Huh. Just realized this spin. As much as it sucks and is unfair... Thats also the point Akaza is trying to make. You should become a demon and that way this unfair disadvantage will be gone. Wounds wont matter to you. The fact Akaza is spamming his demon powers when trying to make the case Rengoku should be a demon because being a human sucks and is unfair is actually quite fair... Akaza's way of fighting actually really represents the side he's fighting for well. But Rengoku is still fighting with all that a human can do with all the flaws, disadvantages and limits of being a human. This is really a fight between the human and the demon itself when you think about it. Rengoku fights for the side of being human in a human way giving it all he's got. And Akaza is fighting the demon way and for the side of being a demon is better. Rengoku refuses this sentiment. Akaza refuses Rengokus sentiment.

Let me tell ya the experience I felt when Akaza's music started playing in the theater was bone chilling. So badass and I was right next to the speaker in the movie theater. And the sad thing here is that the upper moon's are insanely strong even the weakest one has killed a ton of hashira like rengoku. Upper 6 being the weakest and upper 1 being on a whole other level. Sad fact is that here Akaza was letting himself get cut by rengoku to further tempt him to become a demon. Akaza was basically playing with his food, if he wanted he could have so easily had killed Rengoku.

personally the way i always took this fight was: Akaza was undoubtedly stronger than kyojuro. i know a lot of people say akaza would die without regen but at the end of the day if Akaza didnt have regen hed just block the attacks like he does multiple times in their regular clashes. its like if you have an unbreakable armour would you bother keeping your guard up
