2022-01-26 19:36:18 +0000 UTCIf I had to guess I'd say Makashima's end goal is to plunge Japan into anarchy. A time of violence and turmoil after the fall of society. Then once that burns itself out, people would try to pick up the pieces and create a new society without Sibyl. In his mind the violence would just be the growing pains of creating a freer society. The problem is after you collapse a society, you often end up living in a dark age. In fact you end up living in a society that's even stricter than the one you destroyed. That's how Feudalism came to be after the collapse of the Roman Empire, it's how Nazism came to be after Germany's defeat in WW1. Both these forms of government offered protection and stability, in periods of time where there was very little. In the case of Feudalism, protection from barbarian tribes, in the case of the Nazis financial security in a world where there was none. All they had to give in exchange was freedom.
