The anime adds a lot of padding to the fight against Devilman. In the manga Goku kicked him through the wall/ceiling immediately after the devilmite beam.

Just people fighting training and getting stronger the old-fashioned way. Obviously we can’t shoot energy blast but besides for that everything is still pretty realistic
