Other than slight annoyance, Kaido's deadpan expression shows 0 emotion the entire time he is getting hit by every single gear 4th attack that Luffy throws at him. The most he had to do was get a small crick out of his neck and shoulder before sending Luffy like a homerun over the bleachers. Kaido eyed up a Kong Gun like he was having a staring contest with it... and the Kong Gun blinked first.

Hey Luffy remember that celestial dragon you punched? Now you know what it’s like on the other end of that.

Yea, I was impressed by the compliments from Kaido... No matter how subtle they may have been. 😁

Now that you have seen Kaido's dragon form you can play Pirate Warriors 4. As far as I know there are nothing in that game that has not been shown to you in the show. As the Wano story line in the game is fabricated for the game and has nothing to do with the manga/anime

It most likely was annoyance.

I would've said it's usually annoyance or disappointment that would come from Kaido, but i think he had some slight respect for Luffy at the end of that. He did say he had either indomitable spirit or bravado, honestly Luffy has a bit of both

Bro delete this.
That’s actually revealed in the manga. Anime hasn’t reached that point in story yet, it’s a real spoiler. If you’re only watching the anime and not reading the manga please at least get confirmation before revealing plot points.
Don’t just assume it won’t be explained just because the anime hasn’t reached that point yet.

I personally read Kaido saying "he is still glaring at me" as annoyance, not respect

On top of that, Kaido speedblitz Luffy who is now able to use Future Sight and see 5 seconds ahead into the future. Kaido being able to negate that ability just by being even a second quicker is very telling of how much different the pay grade is when facing a Yonko.

I keep forgetting about Kaido and his death wish. That makes sense: He was likely annoyed that Luffy couldn't do the job! 😁

Luffy goes all out bringing out all the stops!
Kaido: sighs taking absolutely no damage from that proceeds to oneshot Luffy.

The difference in strength between someone who is first commander level and an actual Emperor is insane. The first commander is essentially the strongest person on a pirate crew that isn’t the captain.
Luffy & Katakuri fought canonically for almost 12 hours and we saw Katakuri hit Luffy with hundreds if not thousands of blows. For Kaido’s attack to one shot what is probably a slightly stronger Luffy that would have to mean that single attack did more concentrated damage than the entire arsenal Katakuri hit Luffy with.

To gauge Kaido's power, Doffy stood no chance against Gear 4 and Katakuri managed to hold his own until of course the snake man variant came about. Kaido just one shots Luffy in arguably his strongest state like it was nothing.
He took the blows intentionally, because he knew he didn't need to dodge and also because as we know, Kaido wants to die. I'd say Kaido was not angered so much as he was disappointed.

It also serves to demonstrate that Luffy, strong as he is right now, can one-sidedly beat on Kaido and do absolutely zero damage. Not only is there no way for Luffy to beat him, he doesn't even put a scratch on Kaido.
In addition to that, Kaido doesn't clash with Luffy in the manga, he gets up and one-shots Luffy before he can even react. So in terms of speed, strength, and durability, there's not even a comparison. And Kaido didn't use armament haki with his blow (which is all I'm going to say on that for now in case Curtis reads this).
It's a bit disappointing that there's a need to explain this to anime-only watchers. Just runtime padding, like you said.

This is similar to the final Don Flamingo vs Luffy clash in that they drew out this fight for the sake of filling time, but in the process completely changed the meaning of the fight. In the manga, after Kaido blasts the castle, Luffy attacks him and Kaido basically just stands there drunkenly and lets Luffy beat on him for a while and then one shots Luffy with his finishing move. It's not really even a fight, it's a demonstration of how overwhelmingly powerful Kaido is.
This actually lead to arguments between anime only watchers and manga readers, cause the anime only watchers after seeing the last 2 episodes were like "Wow, Luffy is almost at Emperor level, if he was just a little stronger he could beat Kaido" and manga readers were like "NOPE!"
