Roshi/Jackie Chun's plan for the boys is admirable, but has Goku grown to be too much for him to handle?!

CAN TEACHER CONTAIN STUDENT?! - Dragon Ball #25

Comments

Yes it's very loose, only superficial elements are used and are discarded later on. Goku is very much not inspired by the personality of Sun Wukong or the story. If all Toriyama took was the looks and some abilitis and thats not much.

Also how is Goku's relation to Sun Wukong loose at all? He's literally a monkey(✔) boy, with a magical extending pole (✔), and a magical cloud he flies on (✔). Also Sun Wukong can grow giant, Goku does as well. Idk how loose that is.

Well a certain character here is called a demon and then later in Z we find there's a whole race of them and they change how they make offspring but for me the biggest thing was how they could just forget about Launch

It was definitely a treat getting to see him shine again in the Tournament of Power in Super

On a side note I wanted to talk about flying in the show right now. Right now flying (without wings of course) can only be done by characters who know a specific technique when later on in the later half of Dragon Ball (I'm working with the knowledge that Z is an anime only title but that is the section I am talking about) everyone who is able to control their inner power (Ki/Chi/Energy) are able to use it to fly, so that's a big difference between now and then. I'm mentioning this because this change is sort of glossed over as the series progresses to Z with very little in universe explanation, hell its only in the Buu saga that we learn how using Chi/Ki/Energy enables them to fly and that's the last arc in the anime and manga.

Yeah Nam's biggest mistake was going for the same attack. Not because special attacks tend not to work on Goku when he's seen them in action but because Nam didn't take into account he was only able to land the first one because Goku was incapacitated.

He definitely was! 😊

Master Roshi was such a great character all throughout the original Dragon Ball. It's a terrible shame that people who started the series with Z never got to see what he brought to the story.

Trencha

Nam was a cool character

Hi Curtis! Completely unrelated to the video, but I had a question. I noticed you have a secret lab chair, and was wondering how you’re liking it. Been wanting one for a while, but I’ve read conflicting reviews. How long have you had it? Is comfort good? Thanks for another great DB reaction!

MrPapes

And it became such an awesome, fascinating quest; watching him always looking for the next opponent! 😊

Yea, I'm really enjoying a lot of the elements of the character interactions here!

Goku vs Jackie Chun, a battle for the ages. It’s such an important fight for helping develop Goku’s character, this definitely influenced Goku wanting to search for stronger fighters for the rest of his life.

I really liked that episode. The way Roshi helped Nam was amazing. Always makes me grin, every time I wtch this.
