When he was shouting at her that he'd take her sword away, it was him trying to give her what she'd always wanted, but she was simply too talented. Always touched me how she mentions that she also likes the idea of weilding a sword to protect. It's as if Wilhelm gave her the motivation she needed to actually enjoy weilding her blade.
