The Last Of Us Part II (Spoiler Alert)

I absolutely love the story telling in the first game, but this sequel... I'm just confused.

"we also live in a world ravaged by virus" they say, out in public without wearing masks

Aww spoilers... i can't read it yet :(

I share very similar feelings about the story in this game. In TLOU 1, the core message is "even in the complete darkness, there's hope, and one would hold on to it!" It's a very positive and empowering message. And in TLOU 2, the message I got became a vague "Vegeance leaves you hollow, empty and nothing", but it's not fully proven by the plots, I mean, both of the main characters killed hundreds of innocent people in that world... Of course, the game is really well-made technically speaking, but compared to the first one, it's just... I don't know. For anyone who hasn't played the first game, this could be a great game for them, cause they have no emotional attachment to the old characters, but to the old fans, it's very much like a slap in the face.

SONG Inkollo

Yeah, it always scares a little bit to run into infected in dark places. And the dogs are a new addition to this game, and I heard more than once that gamers are complaining online how frustrating it is to dodge dogs. XD

SONG Inkollo

Thank you, William. XD

I think the biggest problem with TLoU part 2 is the first game's wonderful and tragic conclusion. I liked that Naughty Dog (the creators) dared to challenge how players should feel about the role of "heroic" main characters in a game, but they left very few directions to move the plot forward. A sequel feels unnecessary, to me. I watched a bit of the beginning of part 2 on youtube. I see that the game is extremely well made, but I don't see the story advancing beyond "everything is even more terrible and nothing will change". One thing that is NOT the creators' fault: releasing a game about a dark and brutal post-pandemic world, in the middle of a devastating global pandemic. I believe that sales are very good, but I think that I will wait a while to buy it.

I loved the first part! But what’s really scary and mean, is the fact, that you can and in one point in the game even have to kill dogs! I repeated one part of the game almost 20 times just to get past 6 dogs, without hurting one of them...that was quite frustrating...

Agreed

William Deutsch

It's the "No Mask" version. XD

God of War was amazing in this case. Horizon also. Franchement énorme même

Revol

Did I miss the second page of this post? It says 2 pages, but the second one is a repeat of the first.

I know I’ll be sinking so many hours into cyberpunk, Jack will have to find ways to get me off the game once we get both an PS5 and Xbox Series X (we’re both naughty kings who love playing video games together naked 😉😈) Lol 😆

David Proby

Yes, now you mentionned, I'm impatiently waiting for Cyberpunk and the new AC game as well!! I really wanted to love The Last of us 2 so bad, but it just felt awkward at times with the characters I learnt to love in the first game. Thankfully there are promising news games to look forward to for the rest of the year... XD

SONG Inkollo

At this point, I’m just waiting on Cyberpunk and Assassins Creed so I can fuck shit up with Keanu and as a Viking instead of the mess Last of us 2 is; I thought the first one was perfect to end on, but nooopppee.😒😒🤦🏿‍♂️ I’m going through my second playthrough of Witcher 3. If you don’t mind trying out a good atmospheric game, I’d suggest Control; it has major SCP-Foundation vibes as you clear out the Hiss. I loved it

David Proby

I mean, if it's a new IP, I would be totally fine with the choice they made with the characters. But it's not, so I'm confused. Certain decisions the main characters made just feel... forced... doesn't feel natural. Also, the new character Abby didn't win me over... it's tough.

SONG Inkollo

Thank you for the suggestion, Donald. At first look, it looks like a Mario game, and very colorful.

SONG Inkollo

I have felt the same way concerning the game. When I saw it, my mind wanted to have it .... but I remembered I always have to see reviews that are not from fake critics to fully see if it’s worth my time. Unfortunately it isn’t.

Stefen C

If you haven't tried it and you don't mind platformers, I'd suggest "A Hat in Time" for a pick-me-up.

GayBearBro2

I think he gained like 5 kilos during the 2 months lockdown. But he's back to the gym, so... XD

SONG Inkollo

Yeah... I'm not a big fan of the super realistic violence in the game either. I'm mostly playing for the story and the relationship between characters in the game.

SONG Inkollo

I enjoyed so much the first one ... I'm just afraid of the second one to be too much violent, especially when I watched the trailer ...

Revol

Did joe gain weight in the comic? He’s so cute

Christian Ajon

You're welcome. Hope you'll have fun playing the game.

SONG Inkollo

Thanks, Adam. Especially at a moment like this, I need something to lighten me up instead of having all these heavy feelings. XD

SONG Inkollo

It's hard to say that I love the story in this game as much as I loved the story in the first one. Fans' reaction will certainly be divisive, I totally agree with you. I just love the message in the first game better. I mean, adding a vengeance story to a already cruel world is like painting black on a black canvas, it just confused me.

SONG Inkollo

At this point, I just don't know what to feel anymore about the story, I mean, maybe it's because the story of the first one is so well made that I had a lot of expectations for this one, so it's a little bit of a let down...

SONG Inkollo

Thanks for mentioning the spoiler, so I could avoid ;)

Revol

I get it... we all have our emotional thresholds

Adam Lunter

Well that’s only partially true. The beloved character dies in the first 2 hours, but you play as Ellie for the first 10 or so hours before you switch to playing as that other character from their perspective of the events that happened. While I agree the story of the first one is better, I don’t think the story of this sequel is bad by a long shot. Play or watch for yourself and draw your own conclusion; it’s divisive for sure.

Jonathan

Well you are not the only confused one , I wonder what they where thinking..

Nikos

Amen to that. XD

SONG Inkollo

Wise conversation. I want fantasy right now. Exquisitely executed with fluid lines, clear delineation. A believable plot and a fantastic conclusion not too drawn out.

Danny Provencio

I might actually try it. XD

SONG Inkollo

Come play animal crossing 😆
