I think it's more so that if parents did install software to censor adult content, social media platforms wouldn't get flagged as the site themselves wouldn't be adult content. It's kind of a backdoor around those censoring programs.

America (of which I'm American) is so ass-backwards as a result of our puritanical origins that the naked body (especially naked men,) intimacy, sensuality and sexuality are uber taboo. God forbid (and yes, an overbearing Judeo-Christian ideology of a vengeful god)- God forbid a child be exposed to such things, even as innocent as a naked body or displays of affection. BUT NO, we can expose children to VIOLENCE, VIOLENCE and more VIOLENCE. It's so sad.
