Added 2018-07-23 17:50:47 +0000 UTCAfter the dispute, I did a google search and found out Joe might be right on some level: Mosquitoes are attracted to light, but scientist have also determined that most insects prefer UV light (in the bluer, cooler spectrum) over infrared or other longer wavelength light sources (reds and yellows). Well, at least I learnt something today from our silly fight.
By the way, I don't know what happened this year, but in the city where we live (Nantes), we had more mosquitoes than previous years. Both of us have been bitten by those little vampires. XD

2018-07-23 19:01:45 +0000 UTCOh yes. Just got a lesson going upstate ny for barbecue and staying overnight. We were all outside in enclosed gazebo and being eaten alive surrounded by citranel torches and bug zapper. We decided to let insects have gazebo and moved out into open. No more bugs.
