Each year, our city Nantes will organise an touristic event called "Le Voyage à Nantes" (which can be easily translated as "Travel to Nantes") which is series of art works and expositions installed at public places, or inside a city landmark building. (All entrances are free for the public) In 2018, this event will last for almost 2 months, from 30th june to 26 august.
Inside the magnificent Graslin Theater, there's a neon sculpture, called "inside", being exhibited, and it was the first art exhibition we went to for "Le voyage à Nantes".
So we went inside the theater, at the reception, the employees precotiously told us that it would be dark inside the theater so we'd better watch our steps.
We entered the dark theater, at the first sight, we saw a shining neon skeleton hanging in the middle of the hall. The wires attached to the skeleton were all black, so it seemed almost like the skeleton was floatting in the air. On the stage, there was a giant display of a moving abstract art which looked like blue smoke or blue blood diluted in water.
It's not that I don't appreciate other forms of art, but sometimes I find it difficult to understand what message the artist wanted to sent out to its audience from his art works? I mean, it's an idea, it might even be a great idea perfectly executed, but it also feels kind of... empty. I don't know, maybe I'm just not artistic enough to get the meaning of modern art. Am I stupid for not understand this type of art?
By the way, my babe loved it. So he's probably more artistic than me. XD
