Gay Pride Nantes 2017
Added 2017-06-11 18:31:18 +0000 UTCI once met an organiser of Gay Pride. He told me that all Gay Prides were political, and I believe him. It's really important to let everyone in the world know that we exist and we live we love we have fun just like the rest of the population.
If you have ever been to an actual Gay Pride, you would understand that feeling of seeing so many gay people together marching on the street. It's intense. It's almost intimidating. It's almost like shouting to the public "we are here. These are our people. We are strong and we are together. Don't fuck with us. We are not scared of anything." And trust me, it's a great feeling. XD
Besides, it doesn't hurt to see cute guys dancing in their underwear on the floats. Ahhh, I really hoped our floats could be better though. (For the moment, it's really just a truck or a car with a flag on it. Not a "Gay Pride Float" so to speak.) XD

I was in Peace a Corps in Romania, and after I left, Romania had their first Pride in Bucharest, and while the news reported a small crowd, I was just totally impressed they had a march, since the country is still not very accepting. I wish I had made it to D.C. This past weekend, but things didn't work that way for me.

2017-06-12 15:36:37 +0000 UTCMy husband and I have only missed marching in 1 parade in our 24 years together! It's VERY important! This year we're marching with both Seattle Men's Chorus (I'm a 29-year member) AND the LGBTQ members and supporters of the education union I work for. Solidarity!

There's like 6 drag queens in it, and motor leather daddy and bear community and all. It's small but feels complete as a gay pride. After all, it's a manifest toward the public, and a lot of us just enjoy it as something simple and fun. XD

2017-06-11 19:16:41 +0000 UTCEven though I'd never say anyone's pride or sense of power should be lessened because they're in a common car with a flag on it...I usually see moments like that as a lack of a really fun, creative leader. Pizazz doesn't come from birth...they need someone who has special talent for that, some money in a budget, and also the time. I'm grateful your small city has a pride parade at all. My husband and I have to travel 1.5 hours to see anything close and they're always so sad, like this.
