September Status Report 2024

Last month started off like many months, with bug fix hot fix updates, before getting into fixing more reported issues after that to go into the patch proper given they weren't crash inducing or dire.

Then it was onto the editing of the two commissioned scenes that got into the update. After that I think it was implementing the new expressions for Elena unless I'm misremembering the order things happened in.

Then I went to go add a single scene to Trisha.
That may not have been what ended up happening exactly. Going into her file it was readily apparent to be a disorganized, jank mess, that was actively difficult to work with, so I ended up fixing a bunch of those issues, and fixing its out of date old way of handling menu internal logic that i stopped doing a longggg time ago. Before then going into clearing up inconsistencies in her scenes for her situation, cause it was brought up that was a problem, and didn't make much sense.
I also in this time frame gave her a bit of level scaling based on level.
While checking over her existing conversations, I decided to then add in some extra ones to help flesh her out some more, and add an amount of world building and connections, as well as another early teaser to later locations.

Then I was sick for about 3 days. And the Elena expression adds may have occurred around then I think too, I'm not fully sure.

Which in the following week was the addition of the night version of the world map, and the will power temple background being added, along with the back and forth for them leading up to them. As well as talking with felt about the night implementation, and some of the additions they made up to that point.

Then it was back to Trisha who I finished up the editing passes on the conversations I believe, before adding in her new food perk meal option, and then writing her cuddle fuck scene, and doing the editing back and forth on.

Then on the day the update went I out I worked an extra long day to make sure it got out, getting in Ceris' recently finished CG, along with the vfx additions, going over a bunch of felts additions, and editing passes on the dream scene Val made for Trisha.

With update out since then I've been fixing reported bugs and typo reports after a day off from the extensive release day, and while there's been issues there's not been anything super dire for the need of a bug patch update, so may hold off on doing that for the moment to get working on the next update proper.

There is also a sex CG that didn't make it into that update that I will be working on getting into the next one.

And I still have some lingering ideas for extra Trisha content I might consider adding in, though I don't plan to do the entirety of what I intend for her at this time. But with her updated file, adding new content to her is easier now.

Not fully sure what next update will entail, but am likely to go back to the capital to add content there after the Trisha distraction veered me away from doing that.

I for one would greatly enjoy that Livewire alleyway encounter, in that case. I wish you best of luck with this next update

Very excited to see more Livewire stuff, they seem so dangerous yet so tempting. Same reason Ceris content is peak.

I am def considering the Livewire alleyway encounter for this month, (which is a part of main story things for capital explore and getting the int sigil). But I have other thinks too for other main progression things. And some side content stuff. Trisha also has more content to be added but I'll prolly wait a bit on that aside from maybe a one off scene or two.

If you're pondering what main content to add, I'd be excited about furthering the main story. Yes, we just reached the capital and found things to do there. Yes, I need to marry my wife Ancilla and make a wonderfully kept home together. But I know someone else will tell you to expand on Ushris/Gren/their wife. And frankly the only thing the lot of us can agree on is that we like a good quest, and we're all committed to the main quest of uncovering the lost history of this world, defeating the Demon Queen & her forces, and ending the war - so THEN we can fuss over which optional wife is best. I know it's all easier said than done, especially just to get into the mindset to give a good main quest segment, but if you're thinking on things to expand on, that's my suggestion. P.S Trisha best wife, thanks for the level-scaling stuff too

I'm confused about the apologetic tone of this post. Frankly I think this month had a great deal of substantive content additions. Trish additions were well done, Ceris cowgirl is good quality. Admittedly I find the double bubble sorta meh with a single static image of the blobs - but still overall a fine month.

The games a huge project. There are gonna be set backs. But having an allready solid and fun version out now that I get to go back to every now to see the new stuff is pretty cool. But I've been following the project for years now and honestly it's made some pretty stellar progress. Great work yal keep at it.

I'm uncertain if you'll be able to see this response or not given the post location, but if you can do feel free to message me back through the patreon DM system. I think your contribution has been substantial, and if you're done supporting the project I fully understand it. But the development of MGD is going to have other things that I either need or want to do that are unrelated to the main progression, and many people have certainly been looking forward to content for existing characters like Trisha. Newer facial expressions are generally to simply allow the character a more fitting breadth of expressions they feel like they should be able to express to aid in the scenes the character is in. In the case of sex CGs my intended plan is for every character have at least 1, which is daunting and a bit scatter shot based on artist availability. New character art I have generally been trying to get in advance, and these are not shared until they are readily relevant to an update or coming soon. As for the priority of the game, it has always been to make sure the game is at its best to deliver an enjoyable experience as it works towards its eventual finish. Which can again take many different forms depending on what needs to get done, or what I want to work on. People want different things as well between new characters, stuff for existing characters, new combats, and more, and trying to deliver on every front all the time isn't really viable. Sometimes there's also going to be updates that are more focused on QoL or mechanical updates. I do not think rushing to the end of the narrative will be as satisfying as people think it will be, as other content works towards foreshadowing and elevating the aspects of the narrative and future locations that will be encountered, as well as fleshing out the game with more content and making it feel more alive. Which is what I've done since the early parts of the games development. Nothing about my efforts in development has been in any effort to stall the games production, I know how I want the game to end and the ways that is reached, as well as ideas for other projects once it's finished. Game dev is often a strange effort with unexpected complications. Additionally I always love to hear about peoples issues, problems, complaints, criticisms, or otherwise, ideally before they reach a form of boiling point, I can't read minds own answer unasked questions. Though I do know it is a lot easier to watch and wait for things you want to see.

Honestly, dude, your last noteworthy addition was over a year ago. My contribution isn't substantial, but I still feel like I'm over-paying for what amounts to "I added extra stuff to existing content rather than working on the content that a majority of you are paying for." Why are you adding what is effectively DLC in the middle of development? What benefit does facial expressions or extra cg's provide for the future areas and future monsters? Or, rewriting scenes. What monster or area in the future is influenced by scene rewrites? I can appreciate quality control. My patience dries up when you prioritize things that should get secondary priority over finishing development on the main story. I can't continue supporting you. The year of no progress and stalling is beyond ridiculous. I had faith, but now, I'm just disappointed.

I adore this incredibly zig zagging process that led to the twenty-Trish.5 update
