The flight from Potomac to North Carolina takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and from the airport to Lake Norman it’s another 30–40 minutes. Let’s say the cap and gown ceremony (not a graduation) starts at 9am and finishes by 10am. Gizelle attends a bruncheon that wraps up by noon, goes straight to the airport, and catches a 1pm flight. She’d arrive at Lake Norman around 3:30pm—just in time to catch up, gossip, and go out.
