Chapter 260 - Carrot
Added 2024-12-16 14:50:30 +0000 UTCOnce consuming a bit of the Air Root, Timothy saw a lot of things. Subconsciously, he was happy that he didn't eat the whole thing, because it would've been life-threatening otherwise! Goblins weren't meant to eat psychedelics from another universe, from the looks of it.
The hallucinations started out soft, with a few shadow people running around him, but then the shadow people were replaced by a giant, shadow snake! The snake was bigger than the average python snake, stretching over thirty feet, and it was terrifying to see such a thing under most circumstances, and this one was no exception!
“Aah!” He first yelled, but then he realized. “Suck my dingleberries, snake! I'm in a cage, you can't eat me, haha!”
The snake took no offense at what he yelled out, because the snake wasn't real. It just slithered across, and in front of the cell door a few times before it disappeared entirely. After it disappeared, Tim wanted to relax, but he couldn’t because he was struck by an overwhelming wave of anxiety! He sat down, and rocked back and forth like a traumatized child, feeling weaker than he ever did in a long while. He felt as if his world was crumbling!
Then, he started floating, much like a monk would in those over-glamorized movies back on earth. He became vivid for a moment, and noticed that he wasn't actually floating, but his brain had tricked him as such, based on memories he had back on earth, related to those same movies. For a moment there, he was aware of what was real, and what wasn't.
However, reality slipped away from him again, when he started arguing with a carrot, or rather, he was harassed by one. He had talked about carrots before he ate the Air Root, so it wasn’t too surprising that he imagined a talking carrot now.
“Can you guess what I look like, Terrence?” The carrot asked.
“A carrot?” He followed along, hoping that his set of tone was convincing.
“No… don't lie to me, fish! I'm a whopping Cockatrice dragon penis, and do you know what Cockatrices enjoy the most? Huh?” The carrot asked.
“Berries?” He said.
“Booties!” The carrot yelled, “Turn around!”
“No!!” His defiance echoed.
Timothy yelled so loudly that he scared the carrot away. He was thankful for this, because he didn’t want to experience what the carrot had threatened him with! It would’ve been less than ideal.
The hallucinations didn’t stop there, unfortunately, but at least what followed along wasn’t as intensive in comparison to what he had experienced so far. The walls looked like they were melting, as a start, and sometimes they whispered weirdly as well, but this wasn’t anything that he couldn’t withstand mentally. It even felt like a break from all of the insanity that he has been experiencing!
Paired with these ‘melting walls’, he also saw a shadow person running across his cell once in a while, but that was about it. These two types of hallucinations went on for three more hours, and then they stopped.
Timothy felt tired, but overall, he was happy that the hallucinations ceased. Internally, he hoped that his friends didn’t hear him arguing with, and screaming at an imaginary carrot. It would be difficult to live that down.
“System, how are we looking?” He asked, “Did the stupid Air Root do what it was supposed to? On another note, did I lose any points of intelligence through this?”
[You suffered some minor brain damage, but it’s reversible. You can heal yourself by converting your mana into health, as you did before when you were given those numerous mental illnesses.] She beeped, [As for the Air Root, it did make some minor changes to your DNA. The changes are microscopic, as they should be, but you definitely accepted something new in your body’s system.]
Timothy could only hope that this change in his DNA was something good, something positive, because otherwise he suffered through those hallucinations for nothing. He put many hours into this, so he would rather see a positive result at the end, even if the result was small.
At the same time, he noticed that he had melted the bars off of the cell that he had locked himself in. He had likely shot at that imaginary carrot before, without even realizing it. Tim then noticed that his friends weren’t in the basement anymore, so he guessed that he had either scared them away, or they were done making the potions, and went up to the main floor to eat.
Either way, he guessed that they were fine. He’d feel terrible if he had shot, and hurt them while being under the influence of that Air Root, but it was unlikely to be the case.
“You better be worth it,” He mumbled, as he squeezed the remains of the root.
Afterwards, he started doing something that he was getting good at, he started crafting a new ability! This was the best time to try if he could absorb telekinetic abilities, because if he failed again, he would just go upstairs, leave this task for another day, and eat some food. He didn’t plan on eating any chunk of the Air Root today, as it would be too much.
With little effort, Tim crafted a simple, telekinetic ability, and he was able to do it so quickly, because he just had to draw out these weird-looking circles. It was an easy task, and he wasn’t planning on making the ability any more complex than what he crafted earlier on, as it would further lessen his chances of absorbing it.
“Okay, come to Terrence now.” He mumbled, as he tried to absorb the essence of the new ability.
This time, it worked! Well, partially. He absorbed half of the ability, and the rest of it just dissipated in front of him, which was irritating, but it would appear that he made great progress today nonetheless!
“Haha! I figured you out!” He celebrated.
To seal the deal, he gave his new ability a shot. It was as easy to summon it as any other ability that he had, and he used it to pick up an old bowl from the cell next to his. His attempt was a success, as he lifted the bowl, but he lifted it just barely. Nevertheless, the bowl was floating.
“Weak, very weak, undeserving of a name, even, but that’s okay. I’ll eat a hundred roots if you let me in on your secrets, you little bastard, I have all the time in the world!” Timothy spoke like a witch.
