The system kept flashing these notifications at the corner of his eye, even after he experienced the flash upgrade. Although this amount didn't sound like a lot considering that he was within the holy, old city now, it was still a lot for an anglerfish! This was the very pinnacle of what this species could harvest.
At this rate he might have another flash upgrade after a couple of minutes, and he was very excited about it! He waited for his mana pool to fill up, and in the meantime, he was looking at the paragraphs that the system flashed in front of him.
[Congratulations! Your pool now bears blue, Yersinia Mana! That's the special name for having a level eight mana quality in the Fintelus’ Apprentices realm of mana! Yersinia, is an earlier version of the Bubonic Plague, and here in terms of mana quality, it too suggests explosive power, or, evolving power to be exact! It’s labeled as such, because you're a step away from escaping this realm! Furthermore, you qualify to become an Adept Mage very soon!] The system explained.
“Adept, eh? That's badass!” He celebrated before time, even though he technically wasn't adept. “When can I be called a wizard?”
Quick as a flash, the system explained. [The name Wizard is an older term that describes a mage, it's a name that isn't used as commonly nowadays. Statistically though, you'll be up to par with the strength of the wizards of old times, the moment you become an Expert Mage - that's what it would take to call yourself a wizard. The only title after that is the title of an Arch Mage, though, fish kind is very unlikely to house Arch Mages.]
Timothy was a bit stunned by all of those titles, he had never heard of them before. He assumed that being a mage was a common word to describe those who can cast their magical powers, and he wasn't too far off when he assumed so, however, he didn’t expect that other, associated titles existed!
Likewise, he didn’t know that he'd have to cross into the third realm of mana quality, just to be considered an Adept Mage! He was oblivious about it up until now, and the system had only told him because he was close to becoming an Adept Mage. He might even become one today!
“So Arvena is an Adept Mage, and she didn't even brag about it… she didn't say a word!” He realized, “She’s a dangerous woman…”
Arvena could either be sneaky about this matter, or she was equally oblivious. The title of an Adept Mage was unheard of amongst the goblin kind, because almost no one ascended enough to bear this title, it was less than common. Goblins were severely crippled by mana brackets, just like fish were, so to them, anyone who escaped the God's Punishment Realm was amongst the greater people of society, but even they weren't called Adept Mages.
Of course, there was also a possibility that the goblins who actually were Adept Mages, kept their true powers a secret. This was very possible, in fact, it was common amongst the greater mages of the goblin kind.
It was a harrowing topic, and Timothy just realized that he had thought about it too much, because seconds later, he was forced to snap back to reality! He heard some people walking around, and this was very alarming!
“Ah shit… I think they noticed my flash upgrade!” He figured, and when he saw his mana pool filling up quickly, he got even more scared. “If these bastards catch me, they're gonna fry me up! Shit!”
Timothy was in panic. He did not want to face super-powerful enemies right now, especially in this limiting, anglerfish form, so he tried his best to think of an idea!
“Can't have a flash upgrade now… or else they're definitely gonna notice that I'm not just some stupid fish!” He panicked.
Although Timothy couldn't figure out any good ideas, the system came up with one of her own! She started spending six hundred mana points a second, as to regenerate his health.
However, Tim's health was full to begin with, so she was just wasting the points of his mana pool. In this situation where he tried to avoid detection, wasting points was exactly what he needed!
“You saved me…” He muttered, as he saw a couple of human-like creatures walking around in the close distance.
Spending mana as to regenerate health, was the sneakiest use of one’s mana. It didn't make a sound, it didn’t come with a flashy light show, so inevitably, Timothy looked like a fart-gas carrying, dead-brained anglerfish right now, which was exactly how he wanted to look! The system saved him from certain doom, and she did so cleverly, as the mana in his pool was decreasing by two-hundred points a second, regardless of how these ancient ruins were spoiling him with mana all at the same time!
Anyway, he then watched the humanoid creatures patrolling the area, they were practically running around trying to figure out where that flash of blue light came from! They felt threatened by the said light, because they know that someone, or something could be posing a threat to them.
Timothy panicked even less, when he noticed that there were plenty of other small fish swimming around in his close vicinity. There were numerous species swimming around, even, and they moved carelessly, because the average fish, with a bracketed mana pool, didn't see the value of these ruins! They were absolutely oblivious, and in this case, they helped mask his presence.
“I snuck past a fucking Red-haired Guard Wyrm, you spooky bastards are nothing in comparison.” He grinned, as he watched the well-armored humanoids looking for him. Some even crossed by him just a moment ago, but they were none the wiser.
“I'm a fucking ninja, haha!” He lightly celebrated, and then moved along to explore the old city. “What are you bastards hiding?”
Although his IQ score was less than that of a human retard's right now, he could still piece some puzzles together! He quickly noticed that the humanoids around him, did not bear a godly scale of mana quality within them, regardless of the fact that they had been here for far longer than he has! This was weird.
Some of the humanoids were even weaker than him in comparison, so he could estimate their mana quality pretty accurately the very moment he tried - He looked at their levels!
This, overall, was very concerning, because if these guys didn't come here to upgrade their mana quality, then only the divines knew what their true intentions in the ruins were! Tim had to explore the area if he was to figure things out, he had to!
