The system kept flashing the mana that Timothy gained, she flashed them at the corner of his left eye after every other second. This amount of mana wasn't a lot, but at least they were getting things started.
Timothy's mana pool could fit one-point-eight million points, for example, it was absolutely massive, so he would need hundreds of thousands of stray mana points to circle his pool, if he was going to have a flash upgrade! It was a perplexing matter, but nevertheless, getting free mana was always exciting, so he was happy.
“System, how many mana points do I need for a flash upgrade?” He asked.
[Considering the great size of your current mana pool, you'd need to harvest 200,000 mana points in under a minute, in order for you to have a flash upgrade. It's a great amount, but it would've been even greater if it wasn't for the fact that your mana pool is full already!] The system beeped.
“Eh… at this rate, I won't have a flash upgrade in a while, cause fifty points a second is terribly bad. Maybe my slaves are nipping most of the mana out of the water before I can even get to it? It could be possible, there are hundreds of them, so it probably doesn’t even matter that I’m swimming in front of them?” He spoke to himself.
The topic regarding mana was perplexing, but he wasn’t too worried about it right now. The ruins still were nearly five hundred meters away, and he figured that he'd gain a lot more mana once he got to the bottom of the ocean, because the clusters down there had to be more bountiful, they had to be! Otherwise these famous, legendary ruins, wouldn't even be up to par with what the common mana root could offer!
With the latter considered, Timothy started focusing on his platoon of slave warriors instead. He didn’t like the environmental setting of the city below him, he didn’t like how empty it was, and he especially didn't like how his entire platoon didn’t know anything about this, so he ordered them to assume Battle Formation Number 888, for safety's sake! He taught them this formation more than a week ago, and he cleverly named it for it to represent infinity!
Number eight, when tipped over, looked like the infinity symbol. In this case, he had been thinking about an infinite defense tactic when he named it.
Fifty men and women separated from the crowd, and they were what made this defense infinite, because they could protect everyone from afar in various ways. They swam in the close vicinity of the platoon, about a hundred meters away, and they acted both as scouts, and distractions for any potential, greater enemy! He could talk with them telepathically, because his very own dark mana was what kept them kicking.
They were to keep great threats from bothering the greater portion of the platoon, and they would do so, by being the first ones who would attack monsters. While they distracted the monsters, the main portion of the platoon would then attack the monsters with all of the firepower they could muster, thus killing their targets thoroughly, if not quickly!
This battle formation was meant to give the platoon plenty of space to attack, up to a minute of time, even. For a platoon of two-hundred-and-eighty men and women, a whole sixty seconds of freedom would make them god-like! They were ready to face any challenge that the ruins would throw at them!
Anyway, though the platoon was ready for battle, they hadn't faced any potential dangers of the ruins yet. The ruins were just three-hundred meters below them now, and this was where the stray mana that was hidden within the water, started becoming more and more dense!
The slaves were each harvesting two-hundred points of mana per second, thus replenishing a great portion of the mana that they’ve lost before, when they fought the Sea Orcs! Five members of the platoon, even experienced a flash upgrade each! The weakest guys of the bunch, who had been at level five in terms of mana quality, ascended to level six!
The excitement in their eyes once they saw a great, blue light shine on top of their skin, was boundless! There was so much hope in their eyes, that one would never peg them as undead slaves to begin with!
“Haha!” The few of them celebrated, and Timothy smiled, as he felt their emotions telepathically.
A portion of the slaves may experience the same thing very soon, and he was happy for them, though Timothy was far from getting a flash upgrade himself. He gained more mana per second, more than his slaves, but it wasn’t enough!
[+300 mana points]
[+639 mana points]
[+705 mana points]
[+696 mana points]
This quantity was certainly better than what he received a couple of minutes ago, the amounts were increasing exponentially, but he needed almost double the amount of mana he was receiving now, per second, and only then could he experience a flash upgrade! For now, since his mana pool was already full, most of these points that he was receiving were going to waste! He'd only be able to keep a fraction of them after a flash upgrade, while the rest were just dissipating!
“So wasteful… but at least I won't go through more spine-breaking pain. A flash upgrade is as powerful as it is wasteful.” He muttered.
Anyway, after they were just two-hundred meters above the ruins, the amount of mana they received increased significantly! Most slaves were receiving seven-hundred mana points a second now, so more than half of them leveled up in under just a minute!
In terms of mana quality, thirty slaves were at level eight now, fifty of them were at level seven, while the rest were at level six! The overall arsenal of firepower that the platoon had right now, was groundbreaking, they were more ready than ever to face the challenges of the deep sea!
Timothy ordered the platoon to stop swimming for a moment, because at this point, he was receiving a decent amount of mana points per second, two thousand of them, to be exact. It was just enough to let him have a flash upgrade, and he experienced it moments later, actually, he ascended to level seven!
However, his mana pool was almost empty afterwards, and this was especially why he had everyone wait for a couple of minutes, just so he'd replenish his mana pool. This may take a while, but everyone else had to replenish their pools as well, so this break would do all of them good.
“I just need half a million, and then we can move…” Timothy mumbled, but before he even reached half of his goal regarding quantity, he spotted a large dragon at the corner of his eye.
Once he turned around, he spotted the creature floating above the city, four-hundred meters away! His eyes were very sharp.
“Dragon!” He yelled out, alerting his troops, and he was terrified of the fact that this deep sea dragon was not a Sea Orc! It was another species of sorts, one that he couldn't recognize!
