Elevation of Mana Chapter 178 Oversized Issues

With my wife now aiding me I gave her a lot of documentation and got back to what I was currently actually doing. I felt bad about having to put together and then dump upon her so much info, but she had asked for it. It also wasn't like I was actually expecting her to do anything more than whatever she felt like, if she took years to read these that would be perfectly fine with me.

There was ultimately no reason for me to tell her no, it wasn't like I didn't trust her with anything. Even if she messed something up, which given her personality she seemed unlikely to do, it didn't matter. I could rebuild all that I currently had with minimal effort from memory. After all, I'd been all but stuck for years. On the off chance that she did figure something out, then all the better.

As for me though, I needed to start moving out. Our secondary site had been determined provided by none other than Jina. We needed a place and she'd taken care of it. How many heads she'd had to bash to make that happen I didn't know and didn't want to, but since it was technically outside the city walls the council had no say at all in it.

“So what's the verdict?” I asked Chien as he returned from scouting out new location.

“It's rough, but it'll do for what we need. Did you know that your friend can grow impossibly large trees seemingly from nothing? Because she can, like stories tall and all interwoven. The whole place Is one giant plant from what I can tell.”

“I'll have to tell her how helpful that was. I was just expecting an empty field.”

“Well, I think the old lady wants these issues solved so she can go back to her curmudgeoning or whatever it is she does. Having monsters come to her home or having to deal with the gaggle of idiots who run this city, no offense, doesn't seem to be her speed.”

“It's not anyone's speed, I hate dealing with the gaggle of idiots who run this city.”

“Even yourself?”

“Particularly myself, I'm a massive pain who keeps coming up with new ideas that he needs to put into practice. If not for me do you know how much free time I would have?”

He got a hearty laugh out of that one.

“On another note, how goes the attempts at getting me my cloth?”

“Ongoing boss, the workshops are at it, but you know how long these things take.”

“Fair enough.”

We went so I could check the site personally, and I had to admit, Jina had outdone herself. The inside was easily thirty meters tall, more than enough for this first dirigible. As far as the other dimensions, it more than enough on all sides. More impressive was that I hadn't told her how big it needed to be, yet still she was almost perfect on them. Could she just see the pieces of the skeleton and figure it out? Could I do that? Questions I needed to figure out later.

As he'd told me the whole thing was grown into place. The trees reminded me of the ones I'd seen to the north, massive pillars of wood. However these were right atop each other, and held together with interwoven branches, the same ones that made the ceiling. I briefly wondered if those could be removed at some point. If they couldn't we could still take the final product out through the front, but it would be cool.

“Good enough?” Chien asked.

“More than my friend, more than. Let's start moving everything over. We may need to add a few small workshops in the area depending on how things go, but this should work perfectly.”

“So when are we going to get the frame here, and how?” Chien asked.

“We can start in the morning, and what do you mean how? I have doors don't I?” There were in fact doors for unloading things, they were a bit of a pain to open, but plenty large for big projects to come out of my shop.

“What I meant was the length, won't the walls get in the way?”

I thought for a moment, picturing the whole layout and winced. He was right, I'd made plenty of large projects, but never one this long.

“You didn't think about it at all did you?”

“Honestly no.”

“Well, what about removing the wall there, we could make a hole all the way out to the street and just push them through.” It was a good suggestion, but not that good.

“Pretty sure those walls are structural, we'll need to add supports, and... crap.”

“You know boss, for someone so smart sometimes you make dumb mistakes.”

“Like you've never done something like this,” I argued.

“There was that one time with the cart...”

Over the next few hours we put together a plan, how and where to remove the long steel bits of frame from my home. Then the city itself, which was less of a problem, but I didn't want to risk it. With our memories we worked through each and every problem we could foresee, making a few models here and there. Through our combined knowledge we came to the conclusion that we'd only need to rip out three walls, and a door, from the house to get them out.

Then it was my turn to laugh, because the best way to get them out was ironically through Chien's personal rooms. That certainly wasn't planned, but I was going to take the wins where I could get them.
