Question for patrons

Sooo, RR has decided to throw down a gauntlet with their writeathon.  If I pick it up it would mean one of two things.  I could pick back up on one of my older stories, it I could write something else in Alana's universe, if not time period.  Either of those would mean Melody slowing to one update a week.  What are your opinions?

I would like a focus on melody. I like the characters and am eager to see them develop

Matthew Dennis

I voted for melody to keep as is. That said I know motivation is a big factor and you wouldn't have mentioned it if you weren't hot for it. So if you really wanna do it then do it

Deinos

Love the Melody but you should do what you want to do. Whatever you do, don’t let the writing turn into a chore

I already feel like the chapters are slow/short. When other RR authors have slown down or diversified into multiple fictions, I favorite their story and come back to it a year or two later after there is a backlog of chapters to read, then rinse and repeat. I'm not sure why I do that, I just lose interest if things go too slowly. On the other hand, you should do what is best for you, and not worry too much about what other people think.

Stephen

Don't do it

Kaeson

I haven't read the other stories (I think?), so it's hard to tell... Do what makes you happy, you'll have some idea about how good a choice it was by how you feel after the writing, and by how much money rolls in on May 1 :) (That's not a threat, it's an attempt at semi-serious humour - those seem to be the meaningful metrics for this endeavour) I do like the Melody-verse, though, so I personally would be interested in another story in the setting - maybe the computer orb creator, for instance? I forget what the enchanting computers are called. Or the youth of her father and her wizard tutor, or the story of some other random character or world traveller. There seem to be lots of possibilities.

I don't understand why those are the options but that makes it easy for me. I had no idea you had older stories and have no interest in reading something that was presumably dropped. If it's a choice between more words on a dropped story or more words in this universe, that's barely even a choice. The obvious answer to me is this one.

Robert Mullins

I don’t care. If you want to write another story, you can write another story.

If you want to take part, do it. Even if it slows down the regular chapters, you should do what gets you fired up about writing, what YOU actually want to do. I for one, would enjoy more story, of just about any story that has a good plot and good characters.
