Isn't it mentioned somewhere that a very powerful occlumens can fool veritaserum? I feel sure this is canon... I doubt you'll be able to get anything from Voldemort then. Also pretty sure that Peter would abandon Barty Crouch Junior in case of a failed attack on Moody by transforming into a rat and escaping. Moody doesn't know he's a rat, does he? So Peter can alert Voldemort that aurors and Dumbledore are coming.
