I feel like if the potter’s chose Lupin, the secret keeper would still end up being Peter. Whether it’s Sirius or the Potters who suggest Lupin first, I think he would respond with “no, I’m a werewolf it’s too dangerous.” Then say they should choose Sirius, and if Sirius still thinks he’s too obvious he’d then suggest Peter.
