I love this idea. Especially if Luna and Ginny are best friends it makes sense to pay homage to such an important relationship. Luna being a maledictus is also one of my favourite theories!

Yes it refers to Luna but it could also pay homage to Lupin since it means moon. That would make a lot of sense because then all the Marauders (with the notable exception of the rat) would be represented in their names.
