This chapter and Veritaserum are some great RARE examples of the villain monologuing AFTER everything has been done. Harry and the readers can't be filled with a determination to stop the villain before their huge plan because it's already been done - they're too late

They all have their reasons as to being pro, against, or neutral/concerned about Harry being in the Tournament and we have some idea why as a first-time reader or a re-reader. Not just a room full of side characters to say "Yeah, Harry has to compete" or to bring unnecessary conflict (cough cough Snape). I also agree with you two that this should have launched a formal investigation about the Goblet throughout the year but oh well
