Barty Crouch Jr could win acting awards for his portrayal as Moody. On my rereads too, I have to physically imagine "Barty" every time it says "Moody" and reinterpret it, which is so much harder than just reading "Scabbers" as "Peter" who we knew for 3 years or knowing that Quirrell also put up an act while helping Voldemort.

But you're both right that they were working together to find him after the fall, and she'd probably respect Barty for never missing a beat in loyalty. I agree there would be a triangle of power and they'd unite in doubting Snape meanwhile Voldemort's over there like "No, he's cool, guys, I vouch for him"
