I always assumed they boarded up the fireplace to keep out the letters and then bought the space heater to replace the fireplace

2024-12-27 04:34:33 +0000 UTCIt’s pretty standard to have doors for every room throughout the UK, I feel it’s mainly down to how much colder it can get so a door helps keep in warmth. We also tend to like privacy a lot more, even in shared spaces. So doors provide this too. Those super modern open plan homes with windows for walls look pretty though I could never be comfortable living there

2024-12-11 01:52:16 +0000 UTCHilariously, I've never thought of anything but an electric space heater, and the fireplace being boarded up specifically to keep magic (letters, owls, voldy-thing) out.

2024-12-10 16:09:47 +0000 UTCI have 2 thoughts: 1. as a European, it is absolutely normal to have a door to every room in your house, the open house idea only came around in the last few years. Personally, I think the doors are good and important. For example, a door to the kitchen stops your living room furniture from smelling like your cooking. It's also a better sound barrier than a hole in the wall. 2. I can forgive Arthur for misspelling things, especially when he doesn't get to talk to muggles about it. It's like the town names in Pokémon or even some Pokémon names. Just think about how often people disagree with J's pronunciations in the Nuzlocke

2024-12-10 14:45:38 +0000 UTCI always just assumed that sure they study Muggles and such but...I mean you can study another language/culture and unless you have someone from there explaining it than you might not get pronunciation or ideas quite right, so I think it does just depend. I don't figure he is discussing it with Muggles and even with Muggle born Witch/Wizards it still might not be someone just talked about. Anyways, that's what I always figured it was.

2024-12-10 14:35:08 +0000 UTCI agree with phoenix life cycle theory. As a side, Fawkes was fully grown by the end of Chamber so they grow pretty fast

2024-12-10 01:08:26 +0000 UTCLateness without a good reason is a major pet peeve of mine. I had a friend years ago who was half an hour late for a drink at a bar, when he arrived he gave no explanation and no apology. Didn't go for a drink with him again.

2024-12-08 14:25:11 +0000 UTCNever had an electronic fire, but I've seen them and they are normally just placed in the fireplace and made to look like a real fire with metal logs and whatever. Sometimes they do close off the chimney but I don't remember anyone boarding up the whole fireplace. Also don't remember anyone putting a heater in the fireplace.
