Did you guys ever answer the question of why exactly Peter is in griffindor? I feel like I remember it coming down to that one moment of him showing mercy to Harry and Ron in Deathly Hallows, but that can’t be enough for him to be sorted over slytherin. He’s so manipulative in this chapter, and you talk at length at his quick thinking and cunning. Would love to hear your thoughts

Maybe that’s why Snape HATES Hermione so much! She reminds him of Lily so much! Not in appearance but just her mind & the fact that she’s muggleborn! 🤯😱🙊 Also, in the movie, Hermione said, “Harry! You attacked a teacher!” (in regards to Snape), which I always find SO funny because it’s like, “Well, wouldn’t be the first time, Hermione!”! 😆 And it’s the FOUR 4️⃣ people; don’t forget Lily! I firmly believe that Lily also knew that Lupin is a werewolf. 😉 Also, I’m just gonna say it: Peter deserves to be in Slytherin, not Gryffindor! 🐍💚🩶 (Not that I have anything against Slytherin; trust me, I have friends who are Slytherins! But in this case … ) And, oh my gosh, that can be a new What If: What if Peter hadn’t turned spy? Would the Potters have lived? Would Sirius have died that night instead trying to protect the Potters? Or worse, would he have just become like Frank & Alice Longbottom, a shell of his former self? Also, 🎶 You slide into inboxes / And slip through the BARS 🎶 … 😅 And, here’s another What If for you: What if Ginny went with them on the Horcroux hunt? ‘Cause I guarantee you she would have in a heartbeat even if she’s a year younger than Harry … Also, what about Lupin werewolf transformations? Oh, never mind … You guys did talk about that … 😅 And, ahh, no, Ben! Don't bend the book back like that! My inner bookworm-self is cringing a bit at that right now! 😅📖

Well the death of a secret keeper won't break the fidelius charm it does weaken it's power and dilute the effect as everyone who's been told becomes a secret keeper.
So if Sirus died as secret keeper then the charms effect would weaken, were as having Peter be the real secret keeper someone they'd likely not waste time going after makes more sense.

I love the contrast of three of the most manipulative Death Eaters we know. Peter is cowardly, afraid, willing to spin and twist information from different perspectives but first instinct is to flee but also isn't totally incapable; Snape is also afraid but willing to spy, and I feel like operates on the idea that "the best liars always tell the truth" so everything he says is a partial truth and twists to what Voldemort wants to hear but also isn't unrealistically unhelpful to the point it gives him away; and then Barty Crouch Jr uses everything and everyone, manipulating countless good people and every resource at his disposal to inspire and help Harry and like Snape he can be arrogant and and like Peter, he can also spin things to serve his goal, but Barty Crouch Junior is also proud of his intelligence and starts ranting off to Harry at the end of Goblet of Fire unlike Peter who is basically sobbing as he confesses and Snape never feels obligated to share what he's doing to serve the light despite the cleverness of it all ("Swear that I will never reveal the best of you, Severus?")

nice touch on Snape's wandless and nonverbal magic. Great point about Snape accusing James and Harry of being too arrogant to die without thinking Sirius a traitor because technically Sirius called for Peter being the Secret Keeper and James's trust in Sirius on a very technical note DID get him killed. But James WOULD have been trusting Peter up to the very point that Voldemort showed up at his door. Also, interesting that Snape says "get out of the way, Potter" which is VERY similar to how Voldemort demands Lily to get out of the way to kill Harry

Great points about Snape being completely overtaken by the ideas of grudge and vengeance. I think his whole thing about wanting to be the one who catches Sirius makes a lot of sense because from his point of view (1) Sirius tried to kill Snape in a prank and (2) Snape believes that Sirius is the reason Lily is dead
