Maybe the footrests are for really long Quidditch matches.

I really like the theory about the diary belonging to Myrtle! It makes more sense and I always wondered where Tom Riddle would have bought it. I know he grew up in a muggle orphanage but he never struck me as one who would keep a diary.

Auston Schroer

I definitely agree that the diary once having belonged to Myrtle is an interesting thought. Yeah I think I like that πŸ’ πŸ€”

J, I 100% agree with you about the footrests on the fire bolt. However. I was just watching the first movie, and at one point when Harry falls off his broom thanks to Quirrel, you can see two small foot rests on the Nimbus 2000. So there is unfortunately precedent for it. But I still agree they look dumb.

Dave Collins

Ron was definitely just waiting for Hermione to say she was sorry.

Great theory and good theme about stealing trophies. It’s also good irony that the diary is from a Muggle Born student and used offensively to kill (and petrify) Muggle Borns which also fits about how it’s different from the other horcruxes too

I know Draco pretending his arm is hurt for three months is so laughably bad but it did lead to this ultimate Slytherin vs Gryffindor final since Gryffindor always plays Slytherin first normally. Very satisfying to have Hagrid be so proud of Harry and share with Buckbeak, Hermione punching Malfoy, and Harry beating Malfoy and winning the Quidditch Cup! First time and then we have to wait a few years and Harry doesn’t even play in the final match in Order of the Phoenix or Half Blood Prince

Great review! Love this book - and this chapter is one of the reasons why. Marauders lore is the other

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! πŸ˜‚

you are correct. the original intent was to get Hagrid fired, but Dumbledore steps in.

hufflepuffstixsnyper

great episode. Jay's obsession with the firebolt will always be entertaining.

I THINK, if I remember correctly, they (Draco & Lucius) WERE trying to get Hagrid fired, BUT I THINK Dumbledore DOES manage to stop that, but DOESN’T manage to stop the killing of Buckbeak, right?? Am I misremembering that now?? Also, I just thought of a time-turner question: IF Hermione fell asleep & forgot to go to Charms, does that mean she also forgot that she slaps (or punches, in the movie version πŸ˜‰) Draco in the face?? It’ll be a darn (I’m trying not to cuss & keep it β€œPG” here πŸ˜‰) shame if she really forgets … πŸ˜…
