Dungeon TF Progress report (2023-03-23)

Bit of a progress report again!

Also I decided that I try to give these out on a weekly basis. Emphasis here is on "try", as if I don't have anything to report, or forgot, then there won't be one.

Anyway, what has changed since the last report?

Not too much visibly. It's not too much time and I had some other obligations.

Also refactoring code, to make future maintenance easier takes up quite a bit of work.
And, of course, making mockups, designing things, etc.

The combat system is basically the core system of the game and it should be as fun and exciting as possible. So I spend a lot of time with details, making it juicy and interesting! (That takes up all my time)

But the actual changes: Most of it is just code, to be honest. Nothing to show here. I'm mostly busy getting a good system, that isn't so convoluted, that it becomes buggy out of sheer complexity.

Something I can tell though, is some concept. I am planning to have a damage type system.
Each damage type (think Pokemon types), will have another it's strong against and one that it's weak against. 

Mobs will have a type and a mob specific weapon, that has up to two types. This shoud spice up combat a bit more and makes it more important, what party members you have with you.

Also there won't be any sorcerers (who have native magic spells), like you have in Final Fantasy.
Instead you will have to pick up and use scrolls. These will be in a mob's natural language and you can't read them. So you have to use them, to know what they do!

(Or turn into that mob, then you can read them and know what they do).

For the deadline of the new prototype?

It still stands. I should be good for early to mid April, to give another prototype.
