2024-08-28 14:55:35 +0000 UTCAlso, don't worry if you mess up. We can tell the difference when someone is just genuinely trying to figure it out pronouns/gender stuff and when someone is being an ass. Don't worry yourself too much. If I'm not mistaken her pronouns are she/they.

2024-08-28 05:12:37 +0000 UTC<3!! Finished freaking out and watching the video for the first time... Watching a second time now, and commenting/answering questions: - "I am not tucking in public, I want you to know where my nuts is" is a great bar, but my personal favorite is "if gender's what's between your pants (then God made me a lethal weapon)" :'D - DAMAG3 started making music in 2020 (while DoorDashing for a living during the lockdown) and only came out as trans shortly after that. So this is a somewhat new thing for them as well, being out like this. (I came out around the same time and it feels new to me as well, so...) They've made two concept albums which are both (in my interpretation) about them coming to terms with being trans. There are individual songs about other topics as well, but most of it is tied to being trans in one way or another. I don't want to spoil anything though, in case I want to request them in the future, so I'm not giving any examples... But I'd definitely say they're a conscious rapper, mostly focused on trans issues in the US. - They haven't asked for any specific pronouns specifically, but seem to prefer she/her or they/them. One commentor called them "trans feminine" and used they/them pronouns and DAMAG3 liked the comment and commented something positive back (I don't remember what). They've done a couple of studio live sets in the past 1,5 years and in one of them they have an adlib "I can't believe how free I feel now that I've started identifying as a woman". They also seem to be physically transitioning, since in the live sets they changed the bar "the are no titties on my chest" to "I put some titties on my chest"/"I grew some titties on my chest". - They're also trying to get off weed (a bit off topic, but anyway) - in one of the albums they imply that smoking weed makes them not achieve as much in a day as they'd like, and in the latest studio live (under 2 months ago) they say they're 8 weeks sober and "need to think about all the weed bars" they got. - This song was meant as a trans anthem and I pitched it during the international Pride Month. Finland does Pride a little differently - each big city/town has their Pride Week on a different week (so if one so desires, one can celebrate Pride for several months by traveling around the country), and the town I live in has ours next week, so don't worry about being late with this! In my timeline, you're right on time with me getting into the spirit of Pride! Haha. (Big companies obviously only do Pride for one month, but anyway.) - The story behind the song is: They're originally from New Orleans, but live in LA. Their girlfriend had a work thing and had to spend 2 weeks in NY because of it. DAMAG3 was in the process of writing music, with nothing else going on, so they came along, so they don't have to spend time apart, since it doesn't matter where they write their music. They also took their dog with them. One day, DAMAG3 took the dog out for a 10min walk and got catcalled. And that's what inspired this song. - This is what most of us leftists are like. The media just likes the right wing more. I try to see it as a positive, like - the media is always looking for something that shocks people, because that brings in the attention they crave, and if the right wing shocks them more, then that's a good thing, right? Because that means the left is less shocking and more in line with the general opinion on things? - Since you liked the song and the message, I'll probably recommend you more of their stuff!
