The Story Behind Rockstar
Added 2023-06-09 21:15:01 +0000 UTCThought I'd share a little anecdote behind one of my favorite songs Patreon! Quite a few new faces here and people who probably haven't seen or heard the video. In it we have scenes of me standing on the street corner handing out my CDs. This is a shoutout to the days when I literally did just that, standing on the corner for hours with headphones and a walkman trying to get people to listen to my music and buy a CD. We even used a copy of my very first mixtape 'The 92 Dream' in the shot. Those were great but also incredibly hard days. I had to go through so many 'no's' and people just straight up ignoring me just to get that one person who might stop and listen. Funnily enough, I was ignored plenty while filming the video, so we didn't even have to use actors to represent that! In many ways it hardened me, and the more I was turned down, the more determined I became to keep going to find those people who would actually give me a chance. I guess my life on Youtube and career so far have been just that - a lesson in persistence. Here's to you guys for stopping along the way and giving me a chance! I'm glad you've found me.
