Rejected ending to Chapter 22
Added 2018-04-07 20:44:15 +0000 UTCThis was the true ending of Chapter 22, but my editor felt it took a lot away from Sam's emotional distress.
However, I think this might answer a lot of questions readers had about Sam's reaction to the moment.
Either way, I spent the time drawing it up, and I'd hate for it to never see the light of day, so I figured I would put it here just for you peeps.

I am amused by the bandaid from wound inflicted by the friendship being, and I wonder how this feeling of regret will change her relationship with confrontation. Will she be more fearful of it now, or does she now have a better sense of what to confront someone about and what she is willing to let slide... I do think that the official chapter ending did a good job of expressing pain. I think it was nice because it focused on sam. At the time I thought she was more disappointed in Marshall for not recognizing her than she was in herself for lashing out. I think the disconnect is because I think she was justified in doing so and Sam is hypercritical of herself.
