End of Month Update: July 2021

Hello lovely patrons!

First and foremost, as I said on tumblr, modding progress will slow in the next month. I started a new book which will likely end up being my third (published work, that is). This is taking up a lot of my time and focus, as well as moving out. But I'm still going to try to get Easy Sentiment Cheats v1.0 out next month.

Anyway, here's the moderate amount of shit I've been up to:

Storytelling Socials

The update is out. There's a bug in the current version that I need to resolve in which "Tell about Recent Hook-up" can be done on a significant other. The reason why this is a problem is I've used the "HaveHadWooHoo_Recently" relationship bit as a test. It's a temporary bit, so it goes away after an amount of time. So far, so good. The bad news is that bit stays around for like a week. So if your Sim hooks up with someone and gets a significant other shortly thereafter, they'll be able to Tell about Recent Hook-up to anyone. Not ideal.

There's another with "Discuss Having Kids" which will be a simple fix. If the target is pregnant, they can still do it, which is... not ideal and somewhat immersion breaking. I'll fix that right up.

Easy Sentiment Cheats

Work has finally resumed on it. All that's left is removing base game sentiments. What's great for players but annoying for me is Maxis keeps releasing new sentiments... ugh. I'll have to make addons for each pack so that players can pick and choose what packs they have. Hopefully, though, once they're done I won't have to add any more.

The immediate removals I'm coding are Hurt and Deeply Wounded. I hate these sentiments with every fiber of my being. 

Better Autonomy 

I've made a bit of progress on this, but nothing concrete. One thing I want to prevent is Sims exiting conversations to do annoying stuff, like watching the TV. As far as I can tell, though, there is no way to do it. Might just have to live with it. However, combined with time limits on TV watching, it's much less annoying, though I can't resist resetting Sims when they go to watch it.

Small Mods

• Recluse Trait: I'm working on a trait that's similar to the "Loner" trait but with a more misanthropic angle. Personally, I would give myself the Loner trait but it's much more geared to social anxiety than I'd like. I'd rather it have a bent toward preferring isolation over the company of other Sims.
• Less Bubble Blower Coughing: Yes, this mod is already out, but I figured out the weights to it. Now, if Sims have familiarity over 20, they will never fail when using the Bubble Blower. Just needs more testing.
