Beginning of the Month Update: July 2021
Added 2021-07-10 06:44:56 +0000 UTCHello patrons! Sorry for the lack of mods recently. I started a new book which has taken up a lot of my time, but it isn't fair to you that my productivity in modding has slackened. Thus I really went at working on SS tonight and have some news.
Storytelling Socials
I can say with confidence that an update will be out this month.
I fully incorporated Amber's idea of Discuss Having Children. Here's how it works: there are three possible outcomes. The first is that they're eager to have kids, which happens if the interaction is fully successful. If the interaction is only somewhat successful, they'll be open to the idea, but will just leave it at "maybe". The last is this:

What's special about this and what I'm excited about is that I figured out weights and tests for certain outcomes. This happens if the interaction fails normally, but it also always happens if a Sim is either Noncommital or Hates Children. I figured it out! This was something I was stuck on. The actor, on the other hand, responds this way:

Another new interaction that has been on my list for ages: Insult Meat-Eater. Vegetarians can insult anybody who is not one. There are two outcomes.
If it fails:

If it succeeds:

(Made an error with the pronouns here, will be fixed before release).
Likewise, Mock for Social Anxiety is finished.
If it fails:

If it succeeds:

(Will probably reword this to "feels like being alone")
Wow. These two success buffs use the same icon. I'm sure it's not that big of a deal.
Other new interactions:
- Have Vulnerable Conversation: At night, Sims with four traits—Hot-Headed, Gloomy, Loner, and Jealous—can have a vulnerable conversation about what it's like to have flaws. It's similar to Have a Heart to Heart. In fact, for that reason, I might end up scrapping it. Let me know if I should keep it!
- Discuss Retirement: My idea for this interaction is that any elder who is still employed anywhere can have this interaction done to them. The general idea of it is: "hey... you're getting kinda old... maybe it's time to think about retirement?" If they're ambitious, the interaction fails and they're pissed. It's not finished yet, but I'm working on it.
- Blame for Sadness: I've mentioned this one before, but it's done (I forgot to test it in Sims just now for screenshots... d'oh!). When Sims get the "Feeling Sad" buff, or, alternatively, the Meaningful Stories buffs for gloomy Sims, they can blame another Sim for their sadness. If it fails, they get angry. If it succeeds, the Sims feel bad—except Evil, Hot-Headed, Mean, and Insensitive Sims. They get even angrier.
- These bring the total of new interactions to 9-10. I want to get a couple more in there just for good measure, I just don't have ideas at the moment.
As always, if you have suggestions, let me know below!
EDIT: Okay wait! I just had a genius idea. My granddaughter's story arc is that she's in love with Ruby, her best friend, but Ruby doesn't know. Ruby got engaged and she's been in a downward spiral since. She's been hooking up with Sims willy nilly. I wished that I had an interaction for that specifically—for her to tell her (other) best friend about her recent hookup.
Then I realized: I can do it. And so I made it. Tell about Recent Hookup will now be in the next update.
Better Autonomy
Turns out they DO actually try skill-building! A roommate in my dorm wrote until she had writer's block, which... counts for something. The other big thing I want to add is time limits on TV, so that Sims cannot sit and watch TV all day. For example, if your Sim sits down to watch TV, they can only watch it for an hour, after which the interaction will cancel out. Nothing more on that front.
Easy Sentiment Cheats
You know the drill.
Simple Mods
- Anyone Can Threaten: this is done and I'll be putting it out tomorrow.
- No Bubble Blower Reactions: does what it says on the tin; Sims will no longer react when someone succeeds or fails on the Bubble Blower. Just haven't had the chance to test it.
See you when the SS update is out!
