ROD - Chapter 134 (End of Book 2)

Chapter One-Hundred-Thirty-Four – Epilogue

Death is not the end… it is but a new beginning…

-Jimminite Prophecy-

The darkness stirs as I feel a strange familiarity with my surroundings. A more familiar pop up finds me next.

[ You have died. ]

My mind feels as it did before the buffs, before everything else. My grip on mana feels distant, just like reality.

I sigh, looking out at the endless smoke and haze of this false well of souls. The System’s approximation to the real thing. A holding ground of sorts. In the corner of my vision I see abnormal text boxes doing their thing.

Good. Keep carrying the torch.

A voice I have heard many times comes into the void.

“Meatsack, you’ve died.”

“I know.”

“It was bloody brilliant though, to be fair.”

“I’m surprised you’re still here,” I say, turning to look at him.

“Did you think I would leave you?”

“Yes.”

He scoffs, “I’m offended, meatsack.”

“I untethered you, I just thought…”

“You thought wrong, I never abandon a client.”

“Client?”

“Well did you think you could just blow the fucking place up and not have a trial about it?”

I squint at him, “They aren’t going to delete me?”

“Oh they will, but first they have to debate about it, and well, that’s where I come in. I’m the best damn arbiter in the universe, remember?”

I laugh, shaking my head, “You sure you want to represent me?”

He nods, clapping a hand on my shoulder, “Absolutely.”

He smiles and we stand in silence for a moment.

“I notice your eyes are still purple, does that mean?”

He nods with a grin, “Only the Grand One can demote a Purple.”

“Did Ulana and Sera win?”

He shrugs, “I’m sure we’ll find out at the trial.”

“Still can’t believe they’re giving me a trial. Aren’t they afraid I’ll… you know, destroy the place again?”

He laughs, “They aren’t sure what to think. No one’s ever done what you did. So technically there aren’t many rules regarding it. Which for us, is obviously a good thing.”

“Here we go again.”

He smiles, “Indeed, meatsack.”

“How do you like our odds?”

He raises an eyebrow, “When do our odds ever really matter?”

I smile and nod, following him into the unknown void.

Heck yeah. Time for the next respec! Maybe this time he’ll actually level up a few times 😂 Also in the title it says prologue but I think that should be Epilogue as it’s the end of book 2. Unless this is the first chapter of book 3? TFTC!
