Temple of Arba Campaign Update: We Hear You

Hello dear adventurers, thank you so much for your support and feedback on the FronTier Campaign Guilds Expeditions - Temple of Arba.
We value your opinions and it has become clear that we made a mistake with the structure of pledges and pricing of the campaign. We want to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

As a band of adventurers would do in times of necessity, we have decided to take a step back, regroup, and come back stronger. This means we will be cancelling the current campaign but we will be back soon with a revised pricing structure that we hope will better meet your expectations.

As passionate gamer ourselves, we made this set with only a quest in mind, to provide a great tabletop experience to play with minis, and we are committed to make sure that everyone can enjoy this kit.

To the actual Pioneers
We are extremely grateful to those who pledged on the Guilds Expeditions – Temple of Arba. We appreciate your amazing support and want to let you know that those who supported us from the very beginning will receive an exclusive discount code when we relaunch.

A letter from Andrea (Sculptor and CEO):

" Hey everyone,
I want to be upfront and say that we made a mistake with the pricing on the Temple of Arba campaign. As miniature artist, my passion is creating fantasy characters for tabletop gaming. However, when it came to pricing for terrains, I didn't approach it with the same level of expertise and it was a mistake on my part.
I know some of you have expressed disappointment with the pricing, and I completely understand where you're coming from.
In the last 15 months, I've been working non-stop to create the Temple of Arba each month, as soon as the monthly releases were sent for supporting and testing. It started as just modular terrain and trees project, as I wanted to bring to the table easy to assemble and paint trees and ruins, but it soon grew to include minis and a full campaign for Guilds, I can get very passionate about my creations!
This was one of my toughest works ever, and I poured everything I had into it, often at the expense of my own health and wellbeing, neglecting sleep and much more.
Looking back, I realize that I got so caught up in the project that I lost sight of the bigger picture.
While I believe the uniqueness of the pieces and the quality of the work is there, I know that the price tag doesn't match what the community expects from us. Being a terrain project more than miniature, and being for me much harder and longer to make terrain than minis, I made a mistake on valuating the campaign.
So, I want to take full responsibility for this and apologize to anyone who feels let down by this campaign.
We're cancelling the campaign and will be back soon with a new plan and pricing that is more in line with the expectations of our community. We'll take the time to reevaluate everything, listen to your feedback, and make the necessary adjustments.
Thank you all for your support and understanding. I'm committed to making this right, and I hope you'll stick with us as we move forward and make new heroes and villains.
Thanks for your amazing feedback, your honesty, and for taking the time to tell us what's on your mind instead of ignoring the matter. You are the best!"

Once again, we appreciate your support and understanding. We are blessed with a community like you. We will be back soon with a better offer that we hope will meet your expectations.

Just to clarify, Pioneers will be contacted with details on how things will progress, refunds and product delivery in the next few days. Everybody is granted to get refunded and will be rewarded for their efforts.

See you soon in the Forest of Arba 🌱

Temple of Arba Campaign Update: We Hear You

Comments

We hope to make an announcement about it soon :)

Artisan Guild

Any update on Arba? I want to print some trees for DnD! :D

Luke Bampton

Is there a date for the relaunch?

Ben

I appreciate this honesty, and I do think the set looks great. I'll keep an eye for your relaunch.

Christopher Lee

Maybe there could be a set with just the creatures and a set with creatures and terrain and maybe just a set with terrain and then people could pick which set they wanted but they didn't want the terrain they could just get the creatures

Michael Abraham

Blake Urban, nobody “encountered” “heartbreaking” feedback, jeez. All of the comments that I have seen were extremely polite and made with an attitude of disappointment. Everyone WANTED the art, but weren’t able or willing (both are reasonable reasons) to buy it. That doesn’t benefit anyone. The artist doesn’t get money, and the patron doesn’t get art. It’s totally possible to make a mistake when valuing your own work, since a mistake is defined as something that makes you less money in the end, and that’s what happened. I support artists. I AM a professional artist, and have been for over 20 years. This was not the insult to artists you’re trying to make it be.

B. Griffith

They're not guaranteed, but a lot of them were saying that they'd go for it if it were less expensive. The biggest question is whether or not the people who weren't talking will go for it.

Steven Schnepp

I wouldn't pay this much for a set but tbh I have zero interest in terrain. Here for the minis.

Joshua Plunkett

Well done. Elegant pivot. Your work is amazing, keep on going!

Mark Nold

Some folks who thought the price was too high are maybe just spoiled by the AMAZING VALUE of the monthly sets?? But mostly I'm guessing it's simply a matter of not wanting all the stuff in the set, as the price seemed fair if you wanted most of the content. I'd love the creatures, but while the terrain looks awesome, I probably wouldn't print it. I'd pay a bit extra for the creatures if they came with the terrain (or even a subset of it), but not a ton extra. I planned to wait and see if some of the critters came up for sale individually at some point.

Robin Blair

I love the work you guys do, and I think the campaign was price appropriately (compared to other terrain campaigns I've supported in the past). However, I only have a resin printer, so a good portion of the models weren't usable for me (I actually looked at getting a new fdm printer just for this campaign, but it wasn't feasible right now). When the campaign returns I really hope that there's a resin only pledge level since I absolutely loved the figs and the trees, and I would really like to support this campaign.

Jason Burke

I absolutely love your work and involvement with the community. You are by far, the best miniature creator I have found, and use your miniatures weekly for campaigns and printing for friends. thanks so much for your passion!

Apostello

1000% agree

Ignacio Ureta

This is why I will be supporting everything AG does

Scott D Mulhearn

Crazy impressed that you're taking the community's feedback and acting on it - this is what people want to see from creators, and I have no doubt that this campaign is going to go fantastically when re-launched!

TStones

I agree that the price tag was more than reasonable. I was fully willing to pay full price. Me not signing up for the early bird was time stipulations for my finances and not the price point itself. I find it heartbreaking that this kind of feedback was encountered by an artist. Value you your work how you see fit and I’ll be more than willing to support however I can.

Blake Urban

I think we can all agree we rather you guys try and get some setbacks than you guys never try. Keep it up you are all doing great !

Jérémy Guay

nerdy greetings! I can only say for myself: no problem! I'm a craftsman and I know what it's like to miscalculate. so from my side, you have my fullest understanding and I'm looking forward to the upcoming, perfect kickstarter! a wish from me: pack the fountain, the collapsed tower, the bridge and maybe a base pack in 25mm, 32mm, 40mm etc. which already has a recess for magnets on the underside with you? and: a cemetery *.* so again briefly (from me) I stay patreon, I'm not disappointed and I'm looking forward to the upcoming terrain kickstarter <3 cheers, fraenky

Korotus

Sell the art at $100 to 100 people, make $10000 Sell the art at $50 to 500 people, make $25000 Which scenario better rewards the artist for their hard work? A high individual price tag does not automatically equate to the art's 'true value'.

Rob Silvester

I don't think it was the price per se (for some it may have been) but rather that you had to pay a larger price for pieces you may not really have wanted in order to get the pieces you did want, which means its more about value than price.

BillyWardlaw

thanks guys, it means a lot for me to hear your feedback!

Artisan Guild

I really appreciate this step more then I can say. And I can imagine, that it was not easy decision to make. You give it all your time and hard work just to realize, that your vision is not in harmony with belief of others. Admiting of own mistake is always hard, but also very brave at the same time. I am truly proud to be your long time backer - not just for your great sculps but also because your connection to your community. And I deeply believe, that restarted campaign will be great success not just for us as backers, but also for you as creators.

Happy

I just want to say that I admire your willingness to reevaluate things based on feedback. It takes a lot of guts and humility to listen to even constructive criticism, admit things could be better, and make changes. I also appreciate your commitment to making sure everyone is refunded, and that original backers are rewarded. I didn't join the campaign due to the cost, but it wasn't a source of anger or offence to me, just a shrug of the shoulders. However, I will be watching the campaign relaunch with interest, and your attitude towards this whole situation has increased my already positive opinion of the Artisan Guild team.

Kyle Bentley

I complained about the price, however it wasn’t to guilt you into lowering it. I respect you charging what you feel your work is worth. Don’t short change yourself. I personally love your work which is why I support it. You can charge whatever, the sales just might reflect what others are willing to pay is all. Anyways don’t lose sleep over all of our complaints. Although I won’t complain about the price being lower 😅

Nicholas Brennan

This^

Marie Rowland

I was super excited about this campaign, went to pledge, saw the price and even with the discount just couldn’t justify spending that kind money on it. I was also surprised to see that there were only one pledge level and no add ons or stretch goals. I’m glad you are reviewing it :) You know I love your work, and I’m looking forward to the relaunch!!

Marie Rowland

I have to say that the willingness to listen to the community make me so proud to be a member of the Artisan Guild patreon. I had the same pricing reservations and simply decided not to pledge. I thought cool terrain, but more than I’d like to spend. Seeing how thoughtfully you responded and with such care, I will definitely be paying whatever the set gets rereleased for. It is the willingness of AG to be humble and produce such AMAZING work that I am proud to use at my gaming table.

Roger Miller

I just want to say it is amazing that AG has decided to listen to their patrons and decided to act on their patrons comments. Not many companies/studios would take this action.

Paul Morin

Price was fine. Don't feel you have to under value your work as an artist.

Rob T

I'll keep an eye open for the new campaign. For me it was way too expensive. Don't sacrifice your health or well being for it though.

MalkavianLogic

Hope you won't lose money because of that change. People complaining are not guaranted to come back or stop saying it's too expensive, after all.

Dusk

I pledge because i love ur Designs and i like to Pay for ur stuff so u will make more and more :P do i understand it right that i get a refund and can pledge again when u Re Release the Set with the new Price?

Tobias Moll

I have all the AG models, i didn't miss any campaign or KS, and i wanted to back this one. I did, and as said before me, I appreciate the patreon discount, but this was the first time i thought about not backing, and its because of the price. We are used to get lots of minis, high quality and unique style every month, so in comparison Arba seems very expensive. Moreover, I have also silimar terrain stls to some of these, so it seems even more expensive to me. Anyway, the minis and terrain looks amazing as always!!

Bernat Rovira Lastra

I joined and appreciate the discount, but even with the discount and the early bird, I agree with most others that the price is a bit high for what is included. I was hoping there would be some more things added as the frontier campaign continues. The trees are amazing, but I'm fairly sure I already own similar files and such. AG is one of the few patreons I maintain at the moment because the quality seems to be consistently there. I like the themes and such. But yeah, that FronTIER is just a bit too pricey. :-|

Nicholas Hendley

I get what you're saying, that the minis were added as a bonus to the terrain. My point is simply, in the future, would you please consider offering a separate package with each, in case people want only one?

SL

the day the campaign ends you will got your files Jeff :)

Artisan Guild

Thanks Maegan! While we initially intended it to be a terrain-only bundle, we have decided to include exclusive minis as a token of gratitude for being part of the Expedition :)

Artisan Guild

That is a rather high price to be asking in the midst of a recession. I can afford it, yeah, but it's still pretty high for the value of the product. Brand name, so to speak, only carries so far. What sort of market analysis led to the conclusion that a ballpark of a hundred dollars was going to maximize profits?

Steven Schnepp

Let me give you my feedback. The set looks lovely, but as many have said before, the price is steep. The patreon discount code does not offset the VAT on the original price, so...I'm afraid this is a pass for me. Which is really a pity.

virtualmorrigan

Contact MMF for support.

LordHoratio

I love playing DnD and have subbed to Artisan Guild for over almost two years. I’d like to drop some feed back as well. The work is fantastic, and I’d love to support something else but my resources are stretched at the moment and I can’t justify getting that pack for the tree beast and pinup(those are the two I’m most interested in). I’d have rather had this broken up into three months of Patreon releases vs a separate purchase. It would have had a few pluses to do it this way. 1) I’m already subbed so paying for something I already support is kinda a feel bad. However, if it was broken up it would have give members the option to opt out of if the minis was all that they wanted it wouldn’t have felt as bad. 2) spacing it out in the monthly tiers would have given Artisan guild approximately three months to get future work done while doing a prolonged release. 3) Keep up the fantastic work! I know there has been some controversial feedback but don’t take it the wrong way, your work is great. I just cut two patreons off for financing reasons and yours just isn’t an option to sever ties with, I’m going to cut out eating out as much to keep yours for the month. All in all everyone can agree they love your work.

The_ Hybred

I honestly think the price is actually fair for the content and quality of work. Yes, it's worth 8 months of patreon here, but the patreon is already an offer given the price all patreon releases are actually sold on myminifactory. I can understand why it's more interesting for the creator to sell it all in a single bundle and I won't complain about it. Yes, that means it's not intended for everyone and I'm fine with it. As long as Artisan Guild keeps being supported and they keep selling / funding future works, I'm okay with it.

Dusk

You can’t combine the codes, only the larger discount will be applied :(

Peter Denby

I really hate to say this, but I think feedback is important. I agree with everyone else. I was very excited for this, but I just can’t justify the price. It’s about twice as expensive as I expected, based on the dozens of other campaigns I’ve backed, and since I don’t really need the ruined temple buildings, that’s a LOT to pay for some awesome trees and a handful of nice minis. 😢 I wouldn’t bother complaining if I didn’t love your stuff so much!

B. Griffith

As other have said. This is a great set, the price point is just much too high for me to be able to justify it. I rarely use terrain, so it's a lower priority than mini's for me. I'd buy in at about 40 USD. I'd love to be able to just get the miniatures.

Tim Watts

I got so excited I skipped one of the discount codes! I got the early bird tier and the discount from the last post but didn’t check my email! Oh well! Artisan Guild is my favorite thing to spend money on! I can’t wait to print this terrain! I always love the terrain that comes with the models each month!

Matthew Jones

Trying to enter both discount codes, but it doesen't seems to work. It says separate by a coma, but it's not working. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Bernat Rovira Lastra

I know it's SUPER early to be asking, I'm just excited to start the printers up, but do we have an estimated release date?

Jeff Moyer

Really love the set and ended up backing it, but I agree, that price really took a chunk out of my stl budget. Wish there were some stretch goals.

Ross Felder

I’m torn. I love the set, but I agree with others that it’s a bit too expensive. I can get this set or 8 of your monthly sets. From that perspective, the monthly sets get me a lot more for my money.

Adam Marafioti

As with many others I was so keen for this, but 80 USD is too much for me.

Jeff Kunst

Really nice for acquiring terrain for your tables. Unfortunately, I already have enough trees and ruins to cover mine and I really don't need more. Wish you success !

Dusk

Unfortunately have to agree with others, the sculpts are amazing but the price is too steep even with discount code :( With price about $40 it will be no brainer, but with actual one I have problem to justify the price. But it is still tempting me somehow because I love your work.

Happy

As others have said, these are beautiful, I want them, but I unfortunately can’t justify the cost 😔 if they are available separately later,I will surely buy individually sets incrementally though

Brandon Ryan

Everything has been cut to fit the smaller building plate :)

Artisan Guild

Same here. Love the minis (as always) but the complete set is out of budget.

Paul Morin

This is great stuff but unfortunately out of my budget. I would love to contribute at a lower tier for the minis only

Hellvlad

Great job, but way too expensive master. 94$ EB + discount code is way too pricy alas

Mansonian

Really would like to back this, but $80 is steep (although it's a ton of models!). Even with the discount code it might be out of my price range.

TStones

I’ll probably just buy the trees latter down the road if they are sold individually. Slightly out of my price range for the entire thing

Nicholas Brennan

Great work! I wont back it though as it is to much $ for me. Good luck anyways!

Desotar

I wish we could just buy the miniatures separately; I don't really print out terrain, so unfortunately buying this set just isn't worth it to me. Looks amazing though.

Meagan Cunningham

I really want to hop on this campaign but I'm worried a lot of these parts won't fit on my build plate. That moonstone well looks massive.

MasterDangus

Just a thought, but in future frontiers, would it be possible to have separate tiers for just miniatures or just terrain?
